Does anyone know why the movie "Convoy" has been on the Bestsellers list for such a long time? I thought all DVD releases of this movie were poor transfers. I also heard at least one release was presented in the wrong aspect ratio (either cropped or incorrectly squeezed).

Is the Convoy DVD that's #10 in the Bestsllers list a different, tolerable anamorphic transfer in the right aspect ratio or one of the bad ones? If it is one of the bad ones, does anyone know how it could get in their Bestseller list? The list obviously doesn't update very often because almost none of the DVDs so many others have said they bought here show up on it.

Ooooh... you're in for a treat. (With the first two anyway. I find the last two very dismissable.)

I've searched for the 'From Dusk Till Dawn' box set and had no luck in finding it.

Is it no longer available? While I have the first, I did think the other 2 were pretty decent and wouldn't mind adding them to the collection since I'm kinda a completist when it comes to movies.

Same here. The big box set of the entire season came out in the UK and I really liked the packaging. I'm not paying more than $120-$125 for X-Files. I only liked the episodes which had self-contained stories (for example, "Hell Money" from Season 3) and not the ones that tied into the larger conspiracy.

I think Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection are underrated. When compared against Alien or Aliens, sure, comparatively they suck. But compare them to Virus or most other sci-fi movies and they're quite good (IMO).

Yeah, I'll give you that. They're better than most trash "sci-fi" that gets released. But they just can't hold up against those two first films. I personally think that Alien is one of the best motion pictures ever (in any genre).

I think after S3 McGyver took a dive in quality and became very A-Team. I just didnt get that one because i had reached my spending limit.

Their version of "Convoy" is from a company called Cheezy Flicks. http://www.cheezyflicks.com/

All the information you need about the transfer is in the honorable DVD Savant's review.
http://www.dvdtalk.com/dvdsavant/s1826conv.html

And I have a very hard time believing that their Top 20 Best Sellers List has been updated in a long time, or whether it is really accurate in the first place.

Somebody dissuade me from blind-buying the first three seasons of The Dead Zone for $45. Acceptable arguments include (1) that the show isn't very good, (2) that the show starts out good but gets worse, (3) that $45 is not an exceptional price for these, (4) etc.

(Go ahead and place your orders in the next 24 hours. Do not wait until the end, or else you'll be left posting about how DDD did you wrong once you realize you screwed up and don't want to admit you screwed up.)
Indeed, they do sometimes let it run a bit longer than promised, but for those of you wondering, this cannot be depended on. Often they pull the plug right when they say they will. So don't wait until the last minute to get your order in.

One of my favorite guilty pleasures. If there was ever subject matter suited to Ken Russell's over-the-top directorial style, this is it. Drug trips, metamorphosis into other life forms, psychedelic imagery straight out of a 60's flick, rapid-fire dialogue with everybody talking (or screaming) at the same time...completely ridiculous and I am a sucker for every minute of it.

Plus, you get Dick Smith's makeup effects, for the scenes where William Hurt transforms. These were considered state-of-the-art in 1980 when the movie was released, and are still pretty damn good today, especially if you're one of those people who tires of CGI easily.

This is what, maybe $5-$7 with DDD's discount? Way cheaper than a movie ticket, even if you end up not liking it.

How 'bout this question guys, if you had to choose between these two series, which one would it be: Buffy the Vampire Slayer or The Dead Zone?

Order #2 -- first cancelled due to error on my part:

1 COL001617 DVD : CRITIC-COMPLETE SERIES $ 29.66
1 FXD023074 DVD : PARIS, TEXAS $ 5.74
1 MGD008007 DVD : BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFRED $ 7.59
1 WBD069388 DVD : PECKINPAH WESTERNS COLLECTI $ 34.28

Total for this Order: $ 77.27

Debating on if I want to order a couple more things... 400 Blows Criterion, That Obscure Object of Desire Criterion, the Celebration (Festen), the Werner Herzog 6D collection, et cetera. I may hold out -- I would've grabbed that Herzog/Kinski box in a heartbeat, though.

Thanks for all of the posts! I restumbled upon dvdtalk while attempting to find a decent deal on the Peckinpah boxset -- I used to lurk regularly back in the glory days of regular amazon.com coupons. Glad to have redescovered the place during christmas in June!

Btw, you need to watch that Alien 3 extended cut right now.........as in stop reading this thread and get on it!
