For all you guys who ordered Criterions at the beginning of the sale before the price changes, you might wanna call up customer service and see if you can't get a refund of the difference, which is at least a buck or two for each title. Here's what I ordered. I kept adding stuff then I had to go back and remove a bunch. My cart was over $300 before I removed stuff. I have such a backlog of movies/concerts I haven't watched. I'm sure I will be able to pick-up most of the stuff I removed during the next 20% off in 6 months. :)

I haven't placed my order yet, but I plan on doing so very soon. I am looking primarily at cartoon boxsets, and this definitely seems to be the cheapest way to go. The one exception seems to be Thundercats, which is priced much higher than Amazon, even after the coupon. I should have plenty to get without Thundercats, though. :)

I have a query. For the sale, does DeepDiscountDVD put a limit on the number of copies of a single title you can buy?
Here’s my situation. During last November’s sale I bought a slew of Radley Metzger Box Sets as Christmas/Chanukah gifts for all my friends and family. (Okay, a couple were for me.) Unfortunately, as is often the case, my heart was bigger than my head (I do vote Democrat, more often than not) and I’m still paying off my credit card. My hope is to buy sufficient copies of That Girl: Season 1 to sell on the streets for a profit, which I could then use to pay off my debt and maybe buy something small for myself. But first I really need to know how many copies of That Girl: Season 1 I can buy before DDD cuts me off. If it’s only like a hundred, I’m not sure it’s worth the trouble and risk of setting up an illegal business. The last thing I need right now is the Feds on my back. While I have the ear of all you nice folk, do you think That Girl: Season 1 is the best choice? I figure it’s safe because the kids love Marlo Thomas, but I’m beginning to worry it might be too obvious. There are a lot of street vendors in my neighborhood and I don’t want to be the fifth guy out there peddling That Girl. (To differentiate myself, I have a formerly starry-eyed friend, currently stuck in a soul crushing job, working 18 hrs a day, stapling large quantities of paper together, whose hair does a Marlo Thomas-That Girl flip, and who I think I can convince to act as a kind of spokesmodel. Admittedly, you have to be half drunk to fully see the resemblance but there’s also a huge drug problem in my neighborhood so I’m not too worried.) Anyway, sorry to go on like this, thanks for all the help. Okay, one last thing, representatives from DeepDiscountDVD don’t read this forum, do they? Because, if they do, I’m probably screwed. |

1. DDD reps most certainly do read this forum.
2. I believe that 5 (?) is the cut off. There are very few online stores that will allow you to purchase 100+ of an item without flagging the order for cancellation/followup. 3. Maybe I'm missing something... but how much profit could you possibly make selling That Girl out on the street? I can't imagine someone willing to part with too much cash for something like that from a random dealer on the street. Even if you charged $20 (which is more than most people would pay), you'd make basically no profit. 4. Finally... That Girl?!? Am I missing a joke here? |
