My recommendation is for everyone spending $100 or more to front-load their order and have it be on 2-day shipping.

IF the sale starts Friday, I will have ordered everything I need and will probably get it by Tuesday. Sure, you spend another $7 or so, but that's nothing considering the amounts some of us order.

I think a good indicator will be if any other sales start tomorrow or Thursday. Of the 3 bigger sales currently running on DDD, 2 of them (the Geneon titles and the $5.65 titles) end today, and the other sale (the $5.98 titles) has no stated ending date. If no other sales begin, that's a good sign that the 20% off sale is coming soon as there should be no other sales running at the same time.

I was thinking the exact same thing! Great minds think alike...

You know, today is 6-6-06. For all you know, the antichrist bought DDD, there will be no more 20% off sale, and they'll raise all their prices to full MSRP to be like B&N, Suncoast, Borders, FYE, etc.

Because the antichrist works solely off the Julian Calendar.

I thought DDD was the antichrist.

it works fine for me when i add a coupon. Maybe you need to have a saved cart and cookies enabled. It probably wont be saved unless you have a saved cart. Even if the cart isnt loaded, clicking on any title will bring up the price check window and the column after shipping is labeled Discount.

I'll usually place a fairly large order the day the sale starts with some wishlist items and things I've held off on. Then as the lists start being posted of other people's purchases, I'll make a second order closer to the end of the sale (but not at the last minute). I usually do 2-day shipping on both of them since I don't want to not have a tracking number on a $100+ order.

I've ordered very large orders (over $100) every sale and DDD has upgraded me to UPS for free, with a tracking number, etc.

Phone orders are an unlikely YMMV. You can give them a try, but don't expect them to work.

That's a definite YMMV issue, as looking back through my order history for this year I have 11 orders that went over $100 (2 of which almost hit $500) and they've never upgraded my shipping like that.

I heard of many people during the last two sales getting free upgraded shipping. It seems to only happen during the sales. Anyways, I'd rather not bank on getting free shipping and always do the upgrade anyways. The money I'm saving with the 20% is more than enough to cover the shipping costs and still be ahead.

my previous orders got free upgraded shipping, think it depends on your order cause it might be cheaper for DDD to ship by UPS instead of USPS depending on the size & weight of your package

Because the discussion has mainly been beneficial towards tweaking what I've put in the FAQ.

There is another thread about 452 titles with pricedrops at DDD just this week....isnt it odd they would do this right before the 20% off sale? Seems like they would wait until afterward.
