"Bullitt" 2-Disc SE...$9.99 @ Tower Records!

B&M and online.

I have been waiting for this one to drop for so long. It has been on my wishlist since I saw a little of the Steve McQueen docu "The Essence of Cool" on TCM.

I usually hate Tower Records and avoid like the plague because their prices are always MSRP, but lately they are coming up big time.

So I went to see about the "Munich" 2-disc CE which they had for $25.99 (might have been a price mistake) and thought I would just check for "Bullitt" figuring it would be at least $19.99 or more. MSRP was $26.99. And low and behold a sale sticker that said $9.99! I really couldn't believe my eyes and thought it was for the old snapper version, but it said SE on it and knew no matter what they would honor it. But, sure enough it rang up for the sale and checked online it is there as well.

So "Munich" CE (some are calling it LE, when it is in fact CE) for $25.99 and "Bullitt" SE...$9.99.

Good luck and have fun!

Very good find!
My favorite bit in the Bullitt DVD extra features is just a brief outtake from filming the car chase (in the documentary 'Bullitt: Steve McQueen's Commitment to Reality').

During the car chase at one point the Charger skids straight into the camera and the screen goes black for a split second. The outtake is of that event taken by another camera from a different angle. It shows that after smashing the camera the Charger actually manages to recover from its slide and keeps going and drives away!
Then about 2 seconds later in real time the Mustang arrives. This is where to make that tight turn, McQueen sticks his head out the window backing up (this bit was used somewhere in the editted chase), smoking the Mustang's tires in reverse, then continues on following the Charger. As he speeds away there is some debris visible on the sidewalk.
So from this outtake we see that the debris was the wreckage of the camera and camera tripod run over by the Charger just moments earlier.
Amazing stuff.

Its too bad there is not a listing yet on Tower Records' website listing what is included. Some not included in this deal are The Right Stuff, The Treasure Of Sierra Madre, The Adventures of Robin Hood (Flynn), Around The World In 80 Days, Yankee Doodle Dandy, and Casablanca.

Actually I don't think it is most -- I typed in a search for a lot of the ones DDD has and a lot of those rang up at $22.98

I was in the Tower Records on 66th St & Broadway in Manhattan today. There were about four copies of Bullitt in the action section with remnants of sale stickers. I found one that still had the $9.99 price and bought it. If you're in the area it's worth a try as the disc rang up at $9.99 without any problems. I don't understand why the stickers were ripped off as they say good until 06/06/06.
