Went ahead and signed up for the free Amazon Prime deal. I hardly ever order anything off Amazon, so I'll probably cancel it soon after this order ships.

Has anyone else cancelled theirs yet? I know Amazon stuff is usually pretty painless, but wanted to make sure.

Thanks Ruk. Great deal.

Shagrath, I had Prime over the holidays and Amazon sends you an e-mail reminding you that the trial period is about to expire. I then just followed their directions in the e-mail and it was easy to cancel.

Great find OP! I was planning on getting this anyway so it helped to maximize the $30 in GCs I had at Amazon. I pre-ordered The Longest Day to get free shipping which I was also going to get anyway. Thanks.

I'll echo what nixmikspop said about cancelling Prime. Amazon is very upfront about the whole thing and sends email reminders so that you don't forget. Cancelling is very easy on their website.

Thanks. I already had it preordered for $24.49, but I'm happy to cancel that and preorder again for $7 less. Awesome.

Thanks alot op!!!! I was going to hold off on this for a possible price drop. This price is too good to pass up and I am anxious to see the extended cut. When I originally watched the first cut released last year, it was blatantly obvious material had been cut from the film with the way the pacing of the story rushed along in certain parts leaving questions in the mind of the viewer. I added Project X to take my total to the free shipping level....Project X is a great flick from the eighties!!!

I called Amazon and asked if it was pre-ordered now (during my Amazon Prime membership) and the membership expired before the item was shipped, would there be a shipping charge. The CSR said that as long as it was ordered before the Prime Membership ended that there shouldn't be a problem... that it would ship for free.

Just a FYI. Don't know how accurate the info is...

^^ No, they won't. I orders some things w/ Amazon Prime, canceled when my free trial was over. The preorders still shipped for free even though the Prime was no longer active.

Edit: Opps, Leeta posted before I could finish typing...

Thanks for all of these tips. I signed up for the prime trial, ordered this dvd, then turned off the auto upgrade at the end of the free trial so I wont have to worry about getting charged.

I thought the theatrical version was 'OK.' But this is the director's cut. From what I have read, it is pretty good...or at least much better than the theatrical cut. I doubt I will purchase it, though. This seems like a good deal, but I'm needing to save my money and I have way too many DVDs stacked up to watch as it is.

Digitalbits just gave it an A-, possibly a solid A after giving the original a C+. You can read what they had to say about it. Just click here and scroll down a bit. There's a few paragraphs on it past the DVD art.

AICN gave it a great review a few months back, but I can't seem to find the article. Look around for reviews, but look for the director's cut review, and not the original theatrical cut.

Thanks for the info on Amazon Prime. I went ahead and ordered it. Hopefully they won't give me any crap after I cancel the membership.

This is an awesome deal btw. I'd best most stores will have this for $25+ on the week of release.
