Eh...where's the Orphic Trilogy? Can't find it on the site...

It was part of DDD's Buena Vista sale a couple weeks back, going for $10.49, but their regular price is $13.92.

It's been coming up as unavailable on a number of etailer's websites recently, though when I emailed Criterion, Jon Mulvaney assured me that it was still in print.

On a related note (though off topic for this thread...) does anyone know why DDD doesn't carry New Yorker titles? I've wondered for quite a while...

They used to carry New Yorker titles in the past and with very good discounts. Overstock.com seems to be one of the only places that I can find New Yorker titles at a reasonable discount (usually around 34% off).

missed that on the buena vista sale, oh well.

As for the other 3 titles you mentioned, I've seen them all (God bless TCM) and mean to add them to my collection eventually...the two I bought just had priority.

Finally picked up The Hidden Fortress from this sale. Been putting it off forever and figured this is about the cheapest i'll find it.

I ended up ordering Fanny & Alexander last night in addition to ordering Mr. Arkadin last week. It was a good sale but I noticed there were some titles that had better prices at DVDPlanet than in this DDD sale. It pays to shop around, even during sales.

Looks like the sale ended at about 8pm eastern, a little earlier than I thought it would. And I was just about to place a HUGE order!

I never understand why people wait till the last minute to place orders. This consistently happens several times with the 20% off sales. It was well-stated that the sale ended on the 10th, so unless you just got paid today, I don't see why you (or others) didn't just order yesterday or some time during the past week.

Were CC like Do The Right Thing $31 and change before? I could've swore they were like $27 or $28.

I'll tell you why I always wait until the last minute - it helps me control my spending.

It gives me a week or so to think about what I really want instead of just buying things because of the initial excitement of the sale, and once an order is placed I'm not tempted to go back and place a couple more while I still have time.

I didn't blame DDD for the sale ending a little sooner than I thought - I said I waited too long and it's my fault I missed out.

Is that ok with everyone???

At one point (earlier this year, I believe), almost all of the $29.95 titles were at $21.56, and a good portion of the $39.95 titles were $28.76 or so. Looking at my wishlist, I see about 7 titles at their "original" prices, with the rest being about $3-5 more.

If these prices stay around till June, it's going to make the 20% sale pretty much a moot point (at least for Criterions). They'll just be marginally cheaper than DVDPlanet at that point (by mere cents).

Seeing Carole Lombard curse like a sailor is reason enough to get "My Man Godfry".

Making a wishlist ahead of time could help restrict your spending while also letting you make your purchases before the end of the sale. DDD has a wishlist function if that sounds like something you'd be interested in.

got my order today, Criterion, I think, has some of the most spectacular looking spines in all of DVD Land.

so i ordered on 04/07/06 and they still haven't shipped my order.should i start worrying?.take in consideration that all the dvds i ordered (6 items) are in stock.

I wouldn't worry. DDD isn't exactly the speediest place.

I got my "Videodrome" yesterday, and it's some of the most clever packaging ever. E-ver.

Dammit. This makes two Criterion Sales in a row that I've missed by one day. I got busy all weekend and was out of the office all day yesterday and only just checked my email this morning. Figures. Now I guess I'll just have to wait for the next DDD 20% Off Sale. Curse my foul luck.
