(DEAD) Ultimate Oliver Stone Collection $38.87 at walmart.com

Sorry... this deal is dead now. I can't figure out how to edit the thread title.

I found this at walmart.com, which is the same deal as Buy.com offered a few months ago (which didn't go through for a lot of people). It comes out to $47 or so after tax and shipping.

http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/...&path=0%3A4096

Reviews of the set aren't great on Amazon (as it doesn't have the individual boxes, and it consists of only Disc 1's of the few 2-Disc sets), but for 14 movies (actually 13, and a bonus disc), it should be worth a look.

Thanks for your time.

I would go for this, but I believe "Born on the Fouth of July" and "The Doors" are still non-anamorphic. I'm still waiting for remastered versions. Still a great deal though

does that mean the version of born on the 4th of july isn't that was recently re-releaesd isn't the ones in the box set?

overall do most of you think it's worth buying ? it seemes like for 14 discs it's a steal. I'm also assuming jfk, and others that are releavant are all the se 2 discs?

With shipping and tax that's only $3.35 per DVD. Great deal.

uh-oh...

"Run Time (in minutes): 0 minutes"

No wonder it's so inexpensive.

I ordered it. I'm still kind of iffy about it, but that price was insane.

I don't understand the shipping policy though. Est. arrival is next Monday 6th or like April 17th.

AFAIK every version of BoTFoJ and The Doors have been non-anamorphic. This set was released in November '04 to coincide with the theatrical release of "Alexander". Here's an exerpt from the review on DVDTalk:

Salvador, Platoon, Wall Street, Talk Radio, Natural Born Killers, and U-Turn (which also has a fullframe version included on the same disc) are all presented in 1.85.1 anamorphic widescreen, while Born On The Fourth Of July, The Doors, JFK, Heaven & Earth, Nixon, and Any Given Sunday are presented in 2.40.1 anamorphic widescreen (except for Born On The Fourth Of July, Nixon and The Doors which aren't anamorphic). The shorts and documentaries in the extra features section are all presented fullframe, 1.33.1 format.

So did I. I paid extra for the fast shipping, so hopefully it will arrive soon.

Thanks, Chalkster...Awesome! I'd been wanting to buy Platoon and Any Given Sunday anyway...and maybe Heaven + Earth. This isn't much more than the cost of those three, so I jumped at it!

I ordered one. Hopefully it goes through. Don't really care about the second discs missing deals and all that.

Great movies all around.

Thanks OP.

Even though I owned a few of those titles already, I couldn't pass up this price. Great deal! How much did buy.com mis-price this for a month or two ago?

Thanks, Chalkster. Your first post was a good one!
