Looks like I'm in the minority on this one - I actually got the store to honor the $7.99 ad price. I didn't even have to talk to the manager about this PM.
The clerk was ringing up my purchase when I asked him if the PM. He said "yeah", so I showed him the printout. At first he was a little confused because the printout showed this stores' info in the left corner. I was able to explain that the site asked for the zip & his store was "picked". The manager did have to come over & put in his user name/pwd for the PM to be accepted. The manager didn't even look @ the ad, just heard the clerk mention PMing an ad & put his info in - he was also studying some printout/report of his own @ the time.
Almost blew the deal by trying for the $25 Senfield B1G1 deal on the same transaction. That same manager turned me down on that one - claiming the $24.99 price was the "average" of getting both sets for $41.99 (reg $ of 1). This happened prior to his coming over for the PM authorization.
Thanks OP!!!

I can't get this to work. I am following the instructions, but on the page with the Widescreen and Fullscreen listings, there is NO price anywhere on the screen. If I click Buy Online, it is 16.99. Did there used to be a price on that screen, or is it still there and I'm doing something wrong?

You have to call while you are actually in the store...with the printout of $7.99 price in your hand...not send an email. For everyone this worked for...YOU'RE ALL WELCOME!! I've gotten so many deals from this forum that it's nice to be able to give one back!!!

Brooklyn Center, in a word, is ghetto. The location, the store, everything. Northtown I go to as a VERY LAST RESORT. Again, any other day in Blaine, I'm at Pawn America, across from K-Mart, ravaging their racks for movies, or one of the two GameStops, which are like...1/8th of a mile apart, which makes no sense to me. The one beside Potbelly is nice and clean. The one between the Pro Shop and the cleaners, where Party America is is bunk.

Thanks to the OP!!! Took my $7.99 printout along with the printed Best Buy circular to Circuit City, and explained to the clerk that I had made the printout just because the circular was vague about which Jody Foster movies were part of the $7.99 deal. The clerk looked at me suspiciously then noticed that an actual Best Buy location info was on the printout, so she decided to call and confirm. Luckily for me, no one picked up at the store, and after going through the automated phone answering system at the store and staying on hold for like 5 minutes, the clerk gave up and gave me the pricematch plus 10% of the difference with their $14.99 sale price, meaning I got it for $7.29! Crappy Best Buy customer service (not answering their phone) worked in my favor!

Oh, I tried to get my Best Buy to price-match a TV from the website and got the "we don't price-match" line. I was in-store, copy of the webpage in hand. Not an isolated incident.

As far as Gamestop yeah the new location is pretty nice. A world of difference compared to the former Funcoland across the street. My favorite store in the area however is that little known off in its own part of the universe location for Circuit City... then again, I work there too so go figure right?

It's in their policy. Excludes *web only discounts* but that's a given.
And if you're really determined, call customer service and give them the store #and tell them they refused to pricematch. I'm sure something would be done.

to get ANY movie on it's RELEASE DAY, for $7.99 is a deal worth talking about.
P.S. Flightplan might surprise you if you haven't seen it.
I hate Jodi Foster and generally dislike "woman in danger" movies,
but I enjoyed this one. As mentioned above, it's a ONE WATCH title though. Feel the same about "Derailed". Really liked it, but wouldn't watch again.

Very Unclear Ad
I can't believe that BB has not had a TON of problems with people wanting this title for $7.99. The weekly ad is so misleading. It has a line that says "Movies from your favorite artists..." then shows 5 Jodie Foster movies next to each other with only 1 price in sight....$7.99. That would normally lead someone to believe that these Jodie Foster movies (including Flightplan) are $7.99 each. Obviously whomever does BB.com's weekly ad pages thought this was the case. One might even be able to make this argument work without the $7.99 printout from the website. It's amazing what a call to corporate will do. It's very misleading to get someone into your store thinking something is $7.99 and then telling them they can't get it for less that $16.99!! Just and idea..might work.

Hmmmmm...some people might not consider that a whole lot of trouble for $9.00 off a brand new movie the first week it is available. But, I guess that's just some people... I mean, isn't that what this forum is for? To post good deals when you find them? Just because it's not worth the trouble for you, doesn't mean that a whole lot of people might not find this thread very useful...

My wife went to Best Buy yesterday. Just to make thing short she said the cashier was rude when she wanted to price match, so my wife asked for the Manager she said the same thing we don't do price match online even after showing the $7.99 printout price. So my wife asked for the service hotline. She said the Manager gave her a wrong number and left right away, she called using her cell phone. Again the same cashier paged for the Manager. Once they gave her the right number wife calls again explains evertying to customer service and says that they should give her the $7.99 price. Then Manager uses my wife's cell phone, argues with customer service representative and still does not want to price match. So wife talks to customer service and says just go ahead and purchase the Flightplan for $16.99 and I'll send u a gift certificate for $10. So my wife says OK can't argue with that I am getting a $10 gift certificate. Once she was gonna pay same rude cashier didn't want to check her out. Coz my wife was next in line and skipped her and said "Next" and helped out the customer behind her, and then the cashier handed the DVD to another cashier. So wife got pissed and just said that's fine I'm leaving.

Mileage
May
Vary
Meaning that you may or may not be able to get the deal depending on several conditions - store personnel, stock, etc.

I noticed the floating price mistake on Flightplan late Saturday night, but didn't think it was worth it. They always have disclaimers for price mistakes.

A!!hole manager on a power trip! He has nothing in his life, so he needs to prove that he's the man when it comes to that store!! I would have your wife call, or write a letter to best buy explaining this manager's reprehensible behavior. Maybe it'll get the bastard into some kind of trouble. Either that or watch for him to leave at end of shift and slash his tires the next time you see his car there

I wouldn't have gone through that much trouble for Flightplan, but I agree, that is ridiculous. Sheesh.
I had trouble at Best Buy the other day, too, but for a different situation.
