For Orange County Calif only-store closing

Compact Disc Wherehouse is going out of business. Corner of Tustin/Chapman-Orange.
All the used dvds and used cds are 50% off. New stuff is %25off and ofcouse lots of people buying that-what a "deal".
There was Amaracord Criterion there I saw was like $29.99 so half off that.
Bunch of other stuff-catalog and recent release stuff...might be worth checking out as it gets closer to closing Jan 26th and prices go lower.

so was their selection worth the drive? or are the prices so high that even half off they are marginal? Has it been picked clean by dvd talk hawks?

Id say half the dvds are probally gone from there...If you want rare/collector stuff dont make the trip unless you needed amacord cc. Mostly Disney and regular titles in used section left.
At 50% off I bought about 6 titles getting a homevision title Time Without Pity
for 5 bucks, our man flint for 4..lair of the white worm for $4.50
and some cheaper stuff for $2.50-3 bucks. I would go back myself when they get cheaper atleast 70% off...there are some nice new/sealed stuff but not worth it at 25% though a lot of others think it is hot hehe!
off.I bought some cds too..a lot still left if you like music.

Thanks to the OP for this one. I just got back and while I didn't pick up any DVDs, I was able to find a few CDs I wanted. The current prices are 35% off new DVDs, 50% off New CDs and 65% off Used CDs and DVDs.

is the used selection nice enough to warrant an hour drive?

Their selection was a decent size on Saturday, but there were a lot of doubles and triples of things and most titles were pretty common. A title that sticks with me is "Bad Santa" which was $13.99. Subtract the 65% and it comes out to a bit less than $5.

Just in case as side note...if any of you are driving to the store to buy bargain dvds..I have around 100-150 dvds that I'll let go for $5 each or $4.00 if buy all. as I live in same city about 4 miles away so you can maximize your bargain shopping.
I dont have list but there titles like The Village, timeline,seabiscuit..catalog titles that are
1-3 years old stuff..all mint(not previously viewed) and have music cds that i will let go for $1 each
or if you buy all for 50 cents.Sorry no list..
Just email me if you want to stop by...would prefer someone who wants to buy a lot.

I thought I'd bump this thread to find out if anyone has any updates regarding the current selection and discount. I'm thinking about going back this weekend if there has been another price cut.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I was in Yesterday...
all used dvds are 65% off..
cds are 3 for $5
new cds are 50% off
new dvds only 35% off

still a lot of used dvds though they are common catalog titles
lots of cds left used but not too many good titles left.
If anyone hears of different prices changed...please post

Ha! I saw that sometime last week but didn't pick it up because the prices were just okay. Went back yesterday (Thursday), saw the updated $3.99 price tag on used DVDs and tried to find it. I of course didn't find it didn't know that I missed it by only a few hours.
