Best I can figure is that it takes a good bit of time and effort to get the ads and type all that shit up, so they're overly sensitive to even the slightest perceived insult about their efforts.

Oh that guy was hilarious! He was the best. I wish he'd come back!

I used to posts ads when I got them early and stopped because of ungreatful members (I no longer get the ads early so this is no longer an issue).
While everyone isn't the same, imo TSD only posted the ads as an ego trip.

I used to crosspost the early ads from CAG to this forum, but then I just got lazy and someone else (I think Dabaomb, maybe?) took over. Eventually TSD just came over here. It never took me that long since it was mostly a "cut n' paste" job with some minor formatting.

I remember some of my first comments being complaints about the formatting. It wasn't enough to stop me, but it was fairly annoying. Posters who provide early prices are providing (IMHO) a valuable service to the DVDTalk community. Being able to plan out your purchases for the next week before certain websites yank their preorder prices is pretty huge. Having someone complain about it is just frustrating.

That being said, I think TSD is overreacting here. If he got tired of doing it, I certainly understand, but I don't really see a point in "punishing" the community.

I have only been viewing these forums for a short while now and love the DVD bargains thread immensely. But I was wondering what does CAG stand for when you are mentioning it in this thread. Thanks in advance for the information.

Threw a fit? More like he left because people were acting like total jack-offs towards him because he dared to offend them by throwing in a little humor. It wasn't just one person, either. Every time, someone would find a reason to bitch about something... the format, the lack of a certain category, the occasional re-name of a title, etc.

When someone takes the time to make beneficial posts like that, you'd think that people would sit down, shut up, and be appreciative. Not here, though.

While I was never one to complain about the formatting, I really didn't like the "humorous" title changes that TSD would ocassionally do. By renaming titles, that meant that they wouldn't come up if someone did a forum search, which I considered a great handicaps. The ads are there to give people an idea of which places are going to have the best prices, not to crap on a film that you didn't particularly care for.

Good lord, the same thing every time... Does nobody get it? If someone gives you $20 and then kicks you in the nuts, do you have to smile and thank them for the money?

In the act of providing a service, TSD acted as the "jackoff," to use your word. His alterations were not jokes so much as homophobic and misogynistic epithets. Replacing "wife" with "whore" or "bitch"? Are you kidding me? Let's see someone throw the n-word around and not get their ass handed to them on a platter. TSD deserved the same for his casual insults to women and gays.

When I worked at Target, I posted early ads whenever I could. Believe me, it's VERY time consuming. I probably spent 15-20 minutes doing it, just because I knew that the posters here would appreciate it. Being rude when people take the time out of their day to do something like that is a good way to convince them that the time isn't worth it. It's pretty easy to be sensitive when it feels that the extra time spent isn't being appreciated.

While it's not offending to throw in some humor, everybody is different, Some people like it, some don't. Obviously both people can't be happy. Becides that, people who like it comment about it, and then the people who dislike it complain, and vice versa. Everybody's gonna bitch about something. It's life. Everybody needs to get on with their life and move on..

anyways, i'm closing this..I don't think anybody gains anything more from this thread..
