Aviator and Million Dollar Baby: $10.82 for both

Amazon has Million Dollar Baby (2 disc widescreen) for $19.49; The Aviator (2 disc widescreen) for $12.99, or BOTH for $10.82 (after A9 discount) if you're willing to wait for a December 13 release date:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CCD274/dvdtalk

The picture clearly shows both as the two-disc widescreen editions.

$5.42 each, with free shipping >$25.

NB: if you want to give this as a Christmas present, even with Amazon Prime, Amazon is claiming that it might arrive after the 25th.

BigPete 11-27-05 02:22 PM

finally - something worth ordering to make use of my free amazon prime trial.

New Rambler 11-27-05 03:09 PM

Nice find OP.

phatboy 11-27-05 03:15 PM

lordwow 11-27-05 03:16 PM

Edit:

Nevermind, I misread

pcdoctor 11-27-05 03:31 PM

That's a good deal. Too bad I already have MDB.

HE Pennypacker 11-27-05 03:42 PM

Thanks Op.

Easy 11-27-05 04:50 PM

Whoa! Killer deal.

Use the A9.com search engine repeatedly for several days to a week and then the discount will be "active" for you (it will show in the upper left corner of the Amazon page). It's a 1.57% (pi/2) discount on anything you order. You have to keep occasionally using A9.com searches or it will disappear again.

xfilekr 11-27-05 06:22 PM

Any other 2 packs coming out that day like this one?

rjyanco1 11-27-05 06:56 PM

other two-packs for that price

Racing Stripes/Cinderella Story:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...CCD28I/dvdtalk

Constantine/Alexander:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...CCD292/dvdtalk

There are other sets coming out, but those are the cheap sets.

Is that the one disc or two disc Constantine?
EDIT: Looks like one disc.

kar10 11-27-05 07:12 PM

This has to be a price mistake. I already have all of them except racing stripes which I don't like :(

rjyanco1 11-27-05 07:22 PM

I'm guessing it's a price drop. CC has it (Aviator/MDB) for $12.99 with the same release date.

It looks legit. CC has both of them for $7.99 ea this week which is not far off.

Sweet Baby James 11-27-05 07:51 PM

It's most likely legit. I read somewhere that Warner was going to get very aggressive with their pricing of catalog titles.:) It seems like the best strategy nowadays is to wait a couple of months after a title is released to get the killer deal.

Sweet Baby James 11-27-05 08:11 PM

I just did a search for Warner 2paks and here are some other $10.99 paks that are coming out on December 13-

Starsky and Hutch/Ocean's Twelve
Miss Congeniality 2/Catwoman.

Hopefully Warner will make this new trend a permanent thing.:)

reubs82 11-27-05 09:00 PM

Dang, what a killer deal. Damn these cheap DVDs.

eau 11-28-05 12:54 AM

They are getting real cheap! With the pricing trend, WB is making me not to pick up their latest releases so soon anymore ;)

Btw, the MDB LE is just the same 2 discs plus a soundtrack CD in a digipak, isn't it?

freudguy 11-28-05 09:47 AM

Holy shmoly! I will definitely pick this up at CC on that day. That price is simply amazing for two 2-disc editions.

Randy Miller III 11-28-05 10:28 AM

That's weird---I just bought both of these (along with Stand By Me: Deluxe Edition) for $20 total at the local used DVD shop. I'd jump on this sale if I hadn't, though.

kenbenobi 11-29-05 08:34 AM

Amazon must have sold a TON of these... Dec 13 release, but it said I won't get mine until Dec 27-Jan 3 (and that's with 2-day amazon prime shipping!!!)

rjyanco1 11-29-05 10:53 AM

I don't know about a ton. Current Amazon sales ranks:

Aviator widescreen two-disc: #424

MDB widescreen two-disc: #597

MDB fullscreen two-disc: #1916

Aviator fullscreen two-disc: #2636

MDB/Aviator widescreen four-disc: #2845

MDB/Aviator fullscreen four-disc: #17546

(The four-disc sets are selling more slowly than any of the two-disc sets, even though they have twice the content at half the price.)

Is that total sold or is that number sold this week or what?

Ocelot 11-29-05 12:40 PM

While i'm trying to get the amount over $25 for free shipping, i bumped into this, what you guys/gals think?

justbarelymovin 11-29-05 04:14 PM

Count me in!

I'd definately pass on this. The image and sound are sure to disappoint. For the same price, as seen in the Amazon box set thread, you can get the Once Upon A Time In China Trilogy instead if you don't already have it.

Peep 11-29-05 07:31 PM

Also http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...s=dvd&v=glance

Ocean's Twelve/Starsky and Hutch

That's weird. I've never used the search and its still allowing me the discount.

rjyanco1 12-09-05 08:19 AM

FYI: The MDB/Aviator four-disc two-pack is still showing for $10.99 (before A9 discount), with a release date of December 13 (next Tuesday)

My original order showed a ship date of December 27 - January 3. Amazon's website made a big deal of mentioning that the discs wouldn't arrive by Christmas.

I reordered and my new order shows a ship date of December 13 - December 15. Amazon's website now makes a big deal of mentioning that the discs will arrive by Christmas.

No idea why this is the case, but if you want the discs by Christmas and have the ability to reorder (without incurring extra shipping charges), maybe it would be a good idea.

mine still says

Shipping estimate: November 28, 2005
Delivery estimate: November 30, 2005

HE Pennypacker 12-09-05 03:19 PM

I cancelled and ordered again. I gained about 7 days in the shipping estimate.

justbarelymovin 12-09-05 03:23 PM

Damn, can't change mine because it will screw up the price on my Scorsese set. I've ended up screwing myself on shipping costs when trying to re-order stuff to combine orders. I'm just going to leave it be.

Liquid Death 12-09-05 04:11 PM

Glad the shipping dates were adjusted, now I can order & use for gifts :)

I wouldn't rely on that too heavily, as we've got a number of people here whose accounts say that the expected delivery date is in late November/First Week of December, well before the still unreached street date. They seem to be having some issues with the dates for these...

Liquid Death 12-09-05 11:58 PM

Well, if they don't come for Xmas, they'll make someone a good Bday gift...

justbarelymovin 12-13-05 02:24 AM

Good news... Just got this e-mail:

Hello from Amazon.com.

We are pleased to report that the following items will ship
sooner than expected:

Martin Scorsese Film Collection "The Martin Scorsese Film
Collection (New York, New York / Raging Bull Special Edition / The
Last Waltz / Boxcar Bertha)" [DVD]

"The Aviator/Million Dollar Baby (Widescreen)" [DVD]

For more details, please visit the Your Account section of our web site
(http://www.amazon.com/your-account). You can also reach Your Account
by clicking on the link in the top right corner of any page on our web
site.

So, basically, it was just an error, and you all don't have to cancel and re-order if you don't wanna go through the trouble.

ChefWinduAZ 12-13-05 02:57 AM

Well here is what it now says for the set on the product page:

"Usually ships within 4 to 7 days. To ensure delivery by December 23, choose Two-Day Shipping."

flix1 12-13-05 08:34 AM

This week's Meijer ad has the Aviator/MDB 2-Pack on sale for $9.99.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 10:32 AM.
