Black Friday AFTERMATH - What did you buy at the Black Friday Sales?
 

I didn't see a post kicking off the annual "I scored great deals" so figured I would inaugurate it for 2005

I hit Target myself, was in line at 5:40AM, was one of first 10 people through the door at 6AM. Lots of stock, including the door crashers. I will say this, Target doesnt get into the "minimum 2 per store" game. They had loads of digital cams, boomboxes, DVD players and recorders etc, and a sizable stock of 5.88 and 8.88 DVDs and 17.88 boxsets. I only picked up Interpreter, Anchorman, Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, Shrek 2 and Robots for a total damage of $41.

I would have grabbed a few more titles like WOTW and Shark Tale, but the $3 off coupons in this weeks People Magazine arent good until 11/28 (thru 12/31). Good timing for the studios.

I then hit my local CVS drugstore for 5 mega packs of alkaline batteries at 2.67 each. They has either 16AA or AAA or 8 D's for that price.

After that, dropped off some drycleaning and am now home to sit back and watch the morning news with the inevitable shopping stories, fights, riots, anarchy etc. we have come to love on the biggest shopping day of the year...

Did you catch what the $17.88 tv box sets were at Target that weren't in the ad? Rumors were for The OC Season One and a Scrubs season, but I wasn't sure if that was true or if there was anything else. Thanks!

I also grabbed 24 S1-S3 at BB.com. At Target, I pretty much saw the advertised sets from the flyer, they were spread across 3 aisles. I think I saw Scrubs, but didnt see a sale tag for it like there was for every title in the flyer.

Then went over to Circuit City at around 6:20am and picked up Wild Things and Simpsons S6.

Did Target have any unadvertised TV box set specials or just the 6 or so that were in the ad (plus The OC and Scrubs)?

If they have nothing besides what was listed in the ad, then I have no reason to go because there's nothing I want. I was hoping they might have seasons 3 and 4 of Everybody Loves Raymond for under $20.

I can't believe I found this deal but

I pricematched Star Wars Battlefront II PS2 for $12.99 at Walmart with the Kmart ad. The Walmart cashier looked at it 3 times and had 2 managers look at it but they took it. It had to be a misprint because it was surrounded by games that normally run 19.99.

Also picked up Prince of Persia II PS2 for 7.99 and Brothers in Arms I PS2 for 9.99.

Got to Circuit City at 3am. Doors opened at 5am. I was out of the store by 5:15 (some asshat in front of me was taking a LONG time at the checkout).

I picked up Simpsons: Season 6 for $16. I wanted Friends: Season 9 but they didn't have any in :( I was the first person in the DVD section too. Luckily I got out of there as the mobs started surrounding the bins of the under $10 DVDs.

(i got 1 last year for 12.99). i had my sister go in while i was at circuit city. she had to wait outside to get into the store for 30 min and when she got in they had completely sold out. i had been hoping they would have restocked but alas.

I went to CC at 8:30ish looking for Simpson Season 6 and had no luck. The store was a complete mess - they had bins with (presumably) discounted DVDs, but there was no price on the bins, and the movies had tags with the full price on them. There were displays with $8.99 on them, but the movies were not on sale, and the employees were telling customers to ignore the price on the displays. I couldn't tell you if there were any bargains or not, and I didn't see movies like Ice Age, Kingdom of Heaven, etc. that were advertised in the circular.

I went to Walmart and had no trouble getting Simpson S6 for $15.99 with a price match. I picked up a handful of $3.44 movies that I was marginally interested in, and eventually put them back down. The display had actually collapsed and it resembled a pile of DVDs and carboard in the middle of the Walmart aisle. There were people pulling 3 shopping carts through the store.

I went to Best Buy and aborted after I saw the overflowing parking lot.

This is the most insane thing ever. These deals are great and all, but alot of people are seriously into it to much. There are a few deals, but honestly DDD 20% sale is more impressive to me.

I got there at 7 and they had us wait in line outside because there were so many people inside. The doorman said there were tons of people lined up at 5am, some of which he said had been there waiting since the previous afternoon -eek-.

Yep...it took me a couple attempts as well. But I was able to get the 2nd season of "AD" for $14.99. And after reading the stories in this thread, I really have NO problem paying the extra $3 for tax/shipping online. lol.

I didn't grab a single DVD today, a break in tradition. No one had any deals on movies that 1) I liked or 2) didn't already have.

I did grab 100 CD-R's and 100 DVD-R's for a total of $30 from Office Depot, though. My only score for the day (had to work).

I didn't actually go to any stores, but I bought The Shield Seasons 2 & 3 for $19.99 each as well as Chappelle's Show Season 2 for $14.99 from BestBuy.com. Cheap prices without having to leave my house! The best of both worlds.
