But last year, Wal-Mart intentionally had a mediocre Black Friday sale, lost $$$$, and then tried to make up for it by cutting right up until the holiday. From everything I've read, they've realized their mistake, are cutting prices earlier, and doing a traditional 'black friday' sale.

I don't think the $3.xx DVDs will last for weeks like they did last year... although I hope I'm wrong.

that list is nowhere near as good as what they had last year for 3.88, IMHO. The only ones that I'd be interested in are mostly foolscreen only. Walmart has made it easy to stay home and shop elsewhere online too.

Two bucks per DVD to ship just about negates any savings.

Just in - WalMart to match prices on Friday. Any item found in a competitor's print ad that is available at WalMart they will pricematch.
Watch them though. They pull some of their product in order to avoid matching.

Last year when Best Buy ran 24 season 1 for $12.99, the shelf was empty at Wal-Mart, but I spotted 4 copies sitting behind the counter.

I agree, that list is a bit of a let down, I doubt I'll be buying any of those for that price as most of them simply arent worth it to me.

I would have called a manager, if they are in view and can be seen by a customer they must be sold. Anything else is understocking and AGAINST Wal-Mart policy. I would have then followed it up with a call to 1-800-WAL-MART. This year especially Wal-Mart is discounting after last year's 3% drop in sales since they didn't heavily discount. They are using this BF ad matching campaign in an attempt to boost sales again. They won't want to have this type of thing going on in their stores this year.

So the above list has everything that will be in the $3.44 displays in the store?

Does anyone have a list of what's in the $3.88 displays?

In the above list there are 9 titles that I wouldn't mind getting for $3.44, but I don't think they are worth going at 5 AM for. Since Walmart is 1 mile away, I think I'll try going around 8 AM hoping it's less insane after a few hours and that there are still some good DVDs left. If it's too ridiculous I'll turn around without even going in. I already know I'll have to park on the far side of the parking lot.

There's nothing really worth waiting in line for this black friday, especially at Wal-Mart where there are a couple hundered (or more) people in line at 6 am.

hm found 6 dvds but with shipping at almost 15 bucks, that's definetly that worth it, too bad they don't have a pick up in store option.

They actually did sell to me. But only after calling the manager back. He was none to happy about it either.

I got back and picked up Bewitched, The Interpreter, and The Longest Yard for $8 each.
I picked up Road to Perdition (WS), Blade Runner, Airheads, and Solaris for $3.44 each.
I also wanted Catch Me if You Can, but all that my store had were Full Screen.

I thought there'd be a lot more posts to this thread by now. My Walmart still had stacks of $3.44 DVDs, and the crowds were surprisingly small when I went around 7:30 AM. It was no worse than a busy weekend, and the parking lot was barely a quarter full.

I found virtually every title I was looking for EXCEPT that many of those were Full Screen only, such as Welcome to Mooseport, Down with Love, plus several I wanted to pricematch like Hulk 2-DVD, Anger Management, Happy Gilmore SE, Billy Madison SE, and The Interpreter. How I hate all those Full Screen titles. I did get a Madagascar LBX for $9.99.

Many people were looking for Minority Report, Road to Perdition, and Collateral, but I didn't see those titles anywhere, and one of the clerks said they hadn't seen them either, so I guess some of the main ones they advertised for $3.44 were nowhere to be found. I had already bought all 3 for $10-$15 when they came out, so I wasn't looking for them.

I wonder if all Walmarts across the country were as un-busy as my Supercenter, or mine was an exception. I actually went to a couple other places in the same mall (like Ultimate Electronics) and if I hadn't known it was Black Friday I would've thought it was just another weekend crowd.

The greenfield/baseline was a zoo at 5am, i couldnt find alot of dvds that i wanted also(minority report, 8 mile, road to perdition). Stopped by the stapley baseline after the mall around 9:30/10ish and it wasn't to busy at all like you said, I was quite suprised....still lots of dvds but still none of those 3 i was looking for.
