Yeah, I saw the art, although it would be nice if anyone has actually been to Best Buy to confim it. If it is a CD, then it'll be Target for me.
|
Was in Walmart today and on the packaging for season 6 was a sticker that said, Seinfeld, Never Before Seen, EXLUSIVE BONUS DISC! I guess the disc is inside? What the heck is on it?
|
25 minutes after my nearest Target opened, I called to ask how many Seinfelds they had left. I was told 3 of Season 5 and 1 of Season 6. Since they told me they couldn't/wouldn't hold a set for me, and I couldn't leave for another 20 minutes, I wrote off that Target. Fortunately a different Target said they had 7 of each. By the time I got there they had 4 left.
|
I just gambled that Target would have some left when I finally went over there around 1:30 this afternoon. They had some of both 5 and 6 but there was no mention on the shelf anywhere about the $29.99 price OR the free $5 gift cards, just the regular shelf sticker for $39.98 each. I used one of the nearby scan machines to verify that they would indeed ring up $29.99 each and they did, so I checked out and got my two free $5 gift cards and used another $5 gift card (which I got for the Star Wars Ep I purchase earlier in the month) to defray the cost further. I would liked to have had the 5-6 gift set, just to go with the seasons 1-3 giftset, but it wasn't worth $30 more in price just for a script and mini puffy shirt to me.
|
I did the Target deal for these two sets today. One for $29.99 and the other for $24.99 was too sweet for me to pass up (I used the other $5 gift card to pick up the new War of the Worlds DVD, the old one, since they had it on sale for only $4.99). The giftset looked retarded to me, so I didn't even have to think about that.
Now if it was a normal sized puffy shirt... |
I did a Target run this evening as well. 1 season 5 and 3 season 6 sets were in stock @ $29.99 each. I used the 2 $5 gift cards to pick up some groceries. These are the first DVDs I have ever bought from Target, and some of the very few ever at a B&M store.
|
I picked up Season 5 & 6 at my local Target today about 12:15. Seemed like they had plenty of stock. Went to the register, they rang up at $29.99 and the check out girl told be to grab two gift cards behind me, then she scanned them for $5 each, and I was out the door. Great Deal - essentially $24.99 a piece.
I remember when Season 1/2 & 3 first came out, I also bought them a Target, lowest price with popcorn to boot. |
Hollywood Video had the lowest price on S1/2 and 3 but it was a typo.
|
Like BrentLumkin, I did the Seinfeld 5, Seinfeld 6, War of the World (1953) trifecta at Target...the W. 11th Eugene (OR) store had plenty of copies (5+) of both Season 5 & 6 Tuesday afternoon, but they were already sold out of the "puffy shirt" edition. I guess the U of O's math department just isn't doing their job...

What is the best price on the giftset?
|
When I looked at the Sears BF ad, I thought they had Seinfeld Seasons 5 & 6 listed for $9.99 each. The way the ad is laid out is unclear because it says $9.99 each underneath, but above it just says "hot new releases". Only by looking at the rest of the ad can you tell that the prices are supposed to be above the items and not below. I assume Sears isn't really selling these for $9.99?
|
I picked up Seasons 5 & 6 at Costco yesterday - I had a gift certificate that brought each set down to $20 each. Anyway, just FYI - one of the sets ( I think it was Season 6 ) came with a bonus DVD. Took me by surprise. According to the package, the contents of the DVD detail what the 4 actors go thru when people recognize them on the street.
I imagine it's just a short little thing. But it's a DVD - not a CD. There's a DVD logo right on the disc. When I get a chance to watch it I'll post again. |
does anyone know what the best deal on this is right now then, because didn't this weeks sales end on wednesday or no?
Thanks |
The Target deal is GREAT.....considering I picked up both 5 & 6 at my local Walmart for a hefty price of 38.56 + tax..which puts it at over $40.00 a piece....oh well..NOW ALL I NEED IS A 400 DVD MEGA CHANGER...to put all my Tv series shows that I have in my collection....like Seinfeld,King of Queens,Everybody Loves Raymond, and Andy Griffith Show..I dont know about you guys but I get tired of getting up and looking thru each season for particular shows...I want to be able to scroll thru a menu an select the show I want and SIMPLY select Play..can't wait to Christmas.

Anyone know if the giftset will still be $79.99 at BB after this week? I was at Target earlier and saw it for $90. As much as I want it, I can't justify shelling out that kind of cash rigt now.
|
Did anyone check Sears for Seinfeld S5 & S6 because their ad made it look like each season was $9.99 each? I didn't bother to check Sears prices, so I don't know if it really was $9.99 at Sears on Friday and Saturday. All I know is Walmart accepted the ad.
|
i also opted for the Target deal on BF, they appeared to have plenty

Most of the cashiers I run into read the ad over and even look at the fine print. Congrats!!! :)

In fact, the supervisor mentioned that a lot of people had done some pretty dramatic pricematches with other Black Friday ads (not necessarily for DVDs).
To me this is like Kmart putting the picture of the 2-DVD Special Edition of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (a deal which I didn't get in on) instead of the old 1-DVD edition and then people using that ad to pricematch the 2-DVD edition for $6.99. You win some, you lose some. The only minor bummer in my deal is that the only copy they had of Season 6 had a couple dents and a slice on the side of the package. The Target ones (which I now need to return) were in near perfect shape, but since Walmart has a bonus DVD stuck on the back with a different UPC, I have to return the Target one back to Target. I had assumed a lot of other people would be posting they got the same deal. |
