Bet half of what I order will be at Wal Mart on Black Friday for $3.44. The only titles listed in the WM ad are Minority Report and Entrapment, both of which I already have. It would be nice to know how long this sale will be on for.

I tried the guitar pics with free shipping and they still were charging $6.30 for shipping, which would only save me about $1.

Either it's a problem with an item in your cart or J&R is charging you wrong. The following is an excerpt from the Shipping Cost section under Help.

----------------
Shipping costs for orders besides Music and Movie orders are based on weight. There is a minimum charge per order of $5.95 for Ground Shipping to the 48 Contiguous States. 2 Day Air adds $9.95 to the total shipping cost; 1 Day Air adds $19.95 to the total shipping costs. Ground shipping is not available to AK, HI, VI, or Puerto Rico. The minimum shipping charges for 2 Day Air to AK, HI, VI, or Puerto Rico is $19.90 and the minimum for 1 Day Air is $29.90. All shipments to Canada besides shipments to P.O. boxes use UPS Canada Express. The minimum shipping charge to Canada is $24.00.

Music/Movie items are shipped at the following rates:
Standard Shipping: $2.95 for the first title, and $0.50 each additional title.
Rush Shipping: $5.99 for the first title, and $0.60 each additional title

Does anyone with prior experience with J&R know if they are likely to cancel the orders of those of us who got our orders in for free shipping with the 99 cent ear-things?

If it were Amazon that made a mistake, they would most likely cancel the order because based on my past experience Amazon has never honored a mistake they made on anything I ordered, even for a few dollars.

I looked at the free shipping pages and you have to know what brand you're looking for and then click on each link to see the price. Too much work.

The movies I didn't order because I haven't seen them are: King of New York, Intolerable Cruelty, Merlin, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, Assault on Precinct 13 (2005), In Good Company, Eternal Sunshine, To Catch a Thief, and Vanity Fair. I doubt I'd have time to rent most of them in the next week anyway, and with the free shipping gone I'll probably pass on them.

I also passed on Rambo 2 & 3 Ultimate Editions because I have the Special Editions, and from my reading of the reviews #2 UE adds nothing new but some "combat" mode graphs, and #3 UE adds some deleted scenes that I can't justify paying $4.99 for each. I didn't realize until now that Daredevil Director's Cut is only 1 DVD. Here I thought it was a 2 DVD set with the same extras as the SE. Bummer. Hulk and The Pianist don't mention 2 DVDs in the description, but hopefully they have them.

I cant help you on your first question, but as far as Eternal Sunshine goes, that is one of my favorite movies. It is my wife's favorite. I really don't like Jim Carrey, but I still love it. So, at this price, I'd say it's a no brainer.

I was able to get the free shipping with the picks. I had them in and the shipping charges went to $6.30 on check-out, but I took the picks out, put them back in and the free shipping took on the second try.

Did anyone notice the sets for $19.99? Bogart Collection is about $31 at DD, $19.99 at J&R.

Too bad I bought it last year.

Used the $1.49 pick and got free shipping. Nice find!

I don't know why that is a bummer. You get a better version of the movie at an excellent price with different extras from the first release. The transfer on it is better than most of my Superbits. More like...Yahoo!

My only experience with them cancelling orders was about 4 years ago -- they had a humungous problem where all their dvds showed up at about 90% off, but afaik they cancelled each and every order for everyone (they did for me)

I share your concern w/ the free shipping, but I guess in theory if this sale goes until the 27th and they do cancel, I can always re-order.

The whole sale's a little weird, actually -- there isn't a link to it on their home page or on their dvd front page either.

I certainly envy those of you who do not already own most of these -- there are some absolutely amazing prices here. Unfort. I already own about 75% of the ones already that I'd actually like to own. Fortunately that still left about 12 discs for me!

p.s. The Pianist is single disc in US -- to my knowledge the only one w/ lots of extras is the Canadian only version.

Site is currently down.

Edit: They're back up. Not that it matters, the bastards don't ship internationally...

FYI, all - Someone mentioned a problem with Fullscreen versions, but from what I've seen, all you have to do is search for that title and the Widescreen version is also on sale.

Anyone know if the whole Casino glitch fiasco has been corrected? I was one of the poor souls that bought it the week it was released, didn't watch it for three months and then found I had one of the glitched copies. This would be a great pick-up granted they fixed the issue.
