All of my orders have had no padding. Just form fitting cardboard boxes. So there is some potential for damage.

And I did get a damaged center "snap thing" on an order from them last year. (To be fair, that was one DVD among many ordered.)

I was hoping that they could just send me a blank replacement case but they would only do an exchange. I decided it just wasn't worth the hassle of packing it up and shipping it back. And I can say that the DDD customer service, via email, was very helpful and friendly.

I have to defend the people answering the phone for DDD, they were always nice to me and quick to solve my few problems so far; if there is anything to criticize on DDD's customer service front it is their habit not to answer most questions coming in as mail. That's their weak point, i never solved a problem with them by just writing a mail.

I got an order shipped email. Looks like they didnt honor Insignificance and Ultraviolet from my order and just cancelled it.

The email had a UPS tracking link so I assume they upgraded my shipping for free.
For those who want to try it out,I think $500 or $550 is the magic number, which is what I tried to go over (after discount) based on those who got the upgrade last summer.

And I still have to make one more order for tomorrow's releases.

Uggghh... I thought I was going to make it through this whole sale without one of the infamous DDD Web site errors. I went to add something to my cart this morning and I get:

Please refresh the page. Thank You.

Diagnostics:
An error occurred while evaluating the expression:

theNowPrice = dvdItem.nowPrice * 0.01

Error near line 514, column 12.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cannot convert to number.

Please, check the ColdFusion manual for the allowed conversions between data types

The error occurred while processing an element with a general identifier of (CFSET), occupying document position (514:6) to (514:50) in the template file /u03/web/deepdvd/cart.cfm.

Template: /u03/web/deepdvd/cart.cfm

Damn... from past experience, the only way to cure this is to delete all of my cookies and start over. I've lost all 20+ titles in my cart, and I've added some random things lately that I didn't write down anywhere. Damn.

I hope someone at DDD reads this and says the final word on that matter.
(everything is related to your answer posted here: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showpos...&postcount=449 )
They told me that it could not, nor could be in the future, ordered so that the 20% off would apply to it. Keep in mind though that the CSR AND "manager" that I asked about this said the following:

1) That set is one of those things that the studio isn't allowing in the sale. This is, of course, a lie since the separate releases that are in the set, are in the sale.

2) This order is in fact a pre-order for this item, what they claimed to be a brand new never released set. This is, once again, a flat out lie since we know the truth on that. Not only that, but they didn't believe me when I said it was a mistake, and that it got mixed up with the second "volume" of the set coming out on that date. They didn't believe me that a second one was coming out, even though all they had to do was look it up.

3) They said that even if it wasn't a pre-order, if it was OOS/backordered, the 20% wouldn't apply to it anyway since, as they said, OOS/backorded items can not have the 20% off applied. This is, once again, a flat out bold faced lie. I told them, very politely mind you, that I've been buying DVDs from them for years now, and that the 20% off discount has always applied to the OOS/backordered items. They told me I must have my information wrong, because they "know for a fact" that those items have never, not in this sale or any that have been before it, been able to have the 20% off applied.

Keep in mind that this wasn't just what a random CSR told me. A supervisor told me the exact same things.

I asked to speak with another supervisor, was then put on hold for 5-10 minutes, then was told I couldn't speak to any at that time. They said they'd have one to call me back, and that was fine with me, but I've yet to hear back from anyone.

Like I said, I have always had probelms with their phone CSRs, even when this sale isn't going on. I don't know why I even tried today.

Without actually hearing both sides to this story, i dont really believe that their phone people outright lied to you. Most of them are probably just temp hires and were relaying information they were told, either incorrectly or correctly. But to say that its these were bold-faced lies is a little overboard.

As for the preorder stuff, sometimes there are re-releases or pricing changes that make it look like an item is for pre-order when its actually already out (I remember this with CSI a little while back). Thats a studio thing and i am sure their website is just following that. Again i cant believe that DDD would have C/S people just outright lie to their customers.

Sometimes on this board and others, i think a lot of people overreact when told "no" even if trying to get away with some loophole in the system or something they believe to be right from their own point of view, but dont even try to see if from the business' perspective. I am not saying thats what happened in this case, its just a general observation that sometimes it is in fact the consumer that is being unreasonable, and not the company.

I purchased Firefly in a blind buy during the sale in June. It was the first thing i watched out of the box and it was well worth the money and risk. Its a great show. Especially since i also bought Equilibrium in that sale as a blind buy and what a piece of shit that was.

Flintstones-1st-4th Seasons

Does anyone know if there's an artbox for the four digipacks or is this just a bundle? I want the first three seasons, but I'm undecided about the fourth [too many Pebbles episodes] even though it only $12.50 more before discount.
