Finally put up the display in Sturbridge, MA. I went through 3 full layers before I found Fletch. There were 2 copies and I snagged them both. Don't know if they may be more further down.

Fletch is a classic, I just never got around to owning it. I put it up there with Caddyshack, Vacation, Blues Brothers.

I've never seen it and bought my 5 copies to sell on Ebay. Sold three for $30 quickly. Now two are left with a day and a half left in the auction. If they don't sell I'll probobly watch one of them and then offer one or both of them for trade depending on how much I like it.

I went WAY overboard on this sale and got alot of catalog titles I've been wanting but was not in a rush to get:

Cape Fear (Orlginal)
Out of Africa
Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot
Heart And Souls
Best Little Whorehouse In Texas
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story
Far & Away
Batteries Not Included
Mask
Broken Silence
Gorillas In The Mist
The Watcher
A Kiss Before Dying
Fletch
The Truth About Charlie
October Sky: SE
Timecop
Raising Cain
The Emperor's Club
The Paper
For Love of the Game

I'm really glad I waited on alot of these. Hopefully they'll keep having these sales regularly.

There was only one copy of Fletch left today and I snagged it. There was at least a dozen or so the other day but I didn't have any cash for dvd buying on me as I was picking up medicine for my sick son. In addition I grabbed
Virus - WS,DTS
October Sky - SE
Reality Bites - 10th Anniversary edition
The Contender _ WS, DTS
Spy Game - Collectors edition
Galaxy Quest -WS
Very Bad Things
Captain Correlli's Mandolin
I was talking to a fellow collector while pawing through the boxes who said he had been to 3 three other Walmarts looking for Fletch and they had been cherry picked also.

I picked up a few today:

-The Babe (A HUGE guilty pleasure of mine, I love the flick.)
-The Emperor's Club (A total blind buy.)
-Jaws 2 (I don't care what anyone says, this is a perfectly fine flick...another guilty pleasure.)
-K-Pax (I traded it last year, and have been wanting to get it back.)

Saw a ton of Fletch at mine. Grabbed one along with...

- Brewster's Millions
- The Lonely Guy
- Weird Science

If I had been in the market for an endless supply of Bride of Chucky or Johnny English, ooh boy, today would've been the best day of my life.

What's the word of Fletch? It's still fetching respectable bucks on eBay. Anyone know if it'll go back to being a tough pick-up once these displays go away?

FINALLY!

Saw half a dozen of Fletch. Got that along with the only Galaxy Quest and a Slap Shot 2.

Saw no Weird Science.

Started with 6, but passed on 1941, Tremors and something else.

I would have got Timecop, but it was only Full Frame.

I just don't understand the thinking in this at all.
Hell, me and another guy lifted the top layer off and set it on top of the $5.50 bin to get to the next level down.

These are now hitting the Cincinnati area. The Ft Wright KY Super WalMart had a large display with two layers. The base is bright red cardboard with "Universal" printed in white.

The funny thing is that it's not really in the video section. It's located on the main aisle in the back of the store that runs between groceries and automotive. It's beside a rack with TVs, DVD players and VCRs and is directly across from the toy section.

Fletch is there and I picked up Tremors, Bride of Chuck, Ma & Pa Kettle, and Duel.

By the way, for the person above that was "pissed off" that they didn't have Duel in widescreen -- keep in mind that this movie was made for television and thus, is supposed to be full screen.

No luck today at the Newburgh and Harriman, NY stores. I searched far and wide through the stores too! With my luck, this was probably already set up at the Middletown, NY store, which is the one that I don't feel like driving to.

I bought all 7 copies of Fletch at Wal-Mart, I am keeping one, giving one to a friend who has been looking for the movie for awhile, and selling the other 5. I bought Fletch because it's an awesome movie, I've been wanting it for a long time but didn't want to pay a lot for it. I also picked up Weird Science and Reality Bites.

Gee, I wonder if I should have bought all of them at mine. Everybody's doing it.

It's almost comical to see 95 copies of it on eBay, 1/2 being touted as "VERY RARE!" and what not. Serves those that only make $10 off of it right.

I'm glad to see so many people picking up Fletch. Its one of my favorite movies. I really hope this blowout means a special edition down the road. If you are on the fence, give it a chance.

Thanks for the heads up Altimus Prime!

After looking through every Pittsburgh store I decided to make the drive out to the Cranberry location this evening! I got FLETCH too! I have been looking for this one for a while and only drove that far for the great price. Don't know what the delay is with the other stores but wanted to be sure to grab a copy so that made it worth the drive.

For others in the Pittsburgh area... There are no displays at: Carnegie, Pleasant Hills, or Bethel Park.

I noticed that. Must have been one of the few before the big "Fletch-stravaganza". I agree, I, too, am glad people are able to get this at a reasonable price. Probably Chevy's singular best film.

I rarely find myself in a Walmart, and, thus, I had not checked this thread to know what was available. I picked up 1941, The Truth About Charlie (I haven't seen it, but it includes the original, Charade, which I have seen), The Lonely Guy, and... Fletch! Since, as I stated, I had not been reading this thread, seeing the OOP Fletch (for $4.88, no less), shocked me, to say the least. When I walked out of the store, I felt almost like I was stealing (I paid for everything, though). Of course, the first thing I did when I got home was to check on dvdtalk to make sure that you all knew that Fletch was in the $4.88 display (you did). I probably would have gotten Weird Science and Brewster's Millions if I had seen them. I thought about Bride of Chucky, but I only saw the fullscreen. I have been wanting Fletch for a long time -- the last time I rented it, I almost asked what the charge would be if I just kept it.

I did pick up Weird Science yesterday.....dug around the other night to find it and found two copies. Since I didn't have the cash that night for it, I hid it and went back today and got it.

For those in the DFW area, the display is out at the WM on 635 in Irving (the one near the Fry's).

I only saw 2 copies of FLETCH and bought them both. Also picked up REALITY BITES, MA & PA KETTLE 2 (they didn't have 1), FRANCIS THE TALKING MULE and THE PLAINSMAN.

Glad to help!

I'm kinda surprised you found Fletch. I only saw the one on the top layer when I was there. Was yours deeper in the cube?

Be glad I'm not an eBay scalper. I'm not interested in buying every copy I see and then ripping off strangers on the Internet who may not know better.

I was also in the Carnegie store Saturday and also noticed there was no display there. I may check out the North Fayette location again.

I work near the Cranberry store, but was prepared to go to Monaca or Chippewa if needed. Man, we do have a lot of WalMarts 'round here! (With more coming!)

It's obvious why I got Fletch. Galaxy Quest, by its review, is a superb one-disc release. As for others... I'm trying to hold myself to new releases. For instance, I've always enjoyed flicks like Trading Places and Brewster's Millions, but I don't feel a "need" to own them. These are older transfers, bare bones, and I would rather wait for a new release, if one ever comes. If not, no big deal.

Yeah, they are in all. The two that I saw them at here in Western MA are both regular Wal-Marts.
