I Know This is Early...Question About Batman Anthology

Does anyone know what the approximate price for this will be? Just curious. I know it's super early to be asking.

nonametofame 10-08-05 02:35 PM

I would say in the $50-60 range. Amazon has it for $51.98 now with free shipping. I'm thinking the b&m stores will be around the same.

MonsterMan 10-08-05 04:21 PM

Best Buy is going to have the set for $49.99 w/ the opportunity to purchase Batman Begins: Deluxe Edition for $9.99.

Artman 10-08-05 04:52 PM

Woah that's a good deal at BB. Assuming you pay $20 and $15 for BBDE and batman/returns respectively that's $50 right there, and they may even be a little more than that. Hmmm....

Could always sell off BF and B&R too.

Nice!
I am going to go that route.

Patman 10-08-05 09:27 PM

I'm holding out to buy singles of first installment, Batman, and maybe Batman Returns. There's no way I'm getting stuck with the Shumacher versions of Batman.

Darknite39 10-08-05 09:42 PM

Buy the box, listen to the commentaries for the last 2 to see how in the hell Schumacher explains himself, sell them for a nickel, and end up spending the same $ as if you had just bought the first two in the first place.

jackson walker 10-08-05 10:02 PM

Batman Returns: the movie that Michelle Pfeiffer actually bothered to act in. Her perfomance in this film is worth the price of the whole Anthology.

JoN8282 10-08-05 10:36 PM

all are available from columbia house - those familiar with ways to get it from them, that would be the cheapest route.

DING DING DING, we have a winner!

gryffinmaster 10-08-05 11:52 PM

Total of $60.00 for the entire set, probably around $63 or $64 with tax?

I think I'm going to faint.

How in the hell? :) I've been waiting for this for a long time, and having the ability to purchase all of that for a low price? The BB: DE and Batman Anthology? Boo-yah!

Thanks for the heads up. Lately, I've been holding off on pre-ordering from places like AMAZON b/c of special deals on pricing or BONUS discs that might be available at B&M stores.

Now I wonder if a bonus disc or something will be offered?

I'm still going to wait until the weekly ads are posted online, before I make my decision. I know I'm going to get the BOX-SET and the DELUXE begins... I just gotta figure out where.

Jim Kramer? "BOO-YAH" "Are you ready Skee-Daddy?" ;)

gryffinmaster 10-09-05 01:10 AM

Yeah, I'm going to wait and see what Circuit City has to offer ... Do you guys think they will price match the 49.99 and the BB: DE for 9.99 at CC?

Oh ... LOL @ Dabaomb

Edit: I started exercising my mad math "skills" a little while ago...

If BB offers the Batman Anthology for $49.99 with the Begins DE for $9.99, then we are looking at the possibility of getting all of the Bat-movies for under $58 ($57.76 @1.07 tax) at Circuit City (if they aren't running a promotion).

chipmac 10-09-05 01:48 AM

Target price is $49.99 and CC is $52.99. I haven't seen the BB ad but if Monster has it right that's a great bargain for all of them.

mparysz 10-09-05 11:16 AM

Presuming that Best Buy deal comes through that's a definite score.

Damn great price! Thanks.

Shagrath 10-09-05 11:24 AM

Keep in mind that the Best Buy deal is more than likely $9.99 for the single-disc version of Begins.. If you want the 2-disc, you're probably screwed out of this deal.

gryffinmaster 10-09-05 01:46 PM

Can anyone confirm any of the Target, BB and CC prices? For both the Batman Anthology and / or Batman Begins Deluxe Edition?

Also, I was considering pre-ordering all of them on Amazon. However, I'm not certain when those pre-orders are processed. How many days before release are they typically processed?

DavidH 10-09-05 03:16 PM

Anyone know what the anthology discs will sell individually?

chipmac 10-09-05 03:33 PM

$17.99 at CC.

The Monkees 10-09-05 05:59 PM

Hey, cool $49.99 is a good price

I didn't really like Batman Begins but for $9.99 either the single or double disc that's a good price.

Although the poster did specifically say Deluxe Edition, so we'll see.

MiamiLoco 10-09-05 10:51 PM

I'm going to wait for the DDD.com sale ;)

Woops.. Musta missed out on that part. :) I went ahead and ordered the anthology from Korea since they're getting the teaser art, and it was only like $60.00 shipped.

eau 10-10-05 04:13 PM

If the BB deal is the DE version, I might go that route instead of preordering at amazon :p

rmick 10-10-05 05:14 PM

When do we expect confirmation of the Best Buy deal so I can cancel my Amazon order before it enters Shipping Soon for all eternity.

gryffinmaster 10-10-05 06:55 PM

I know, I hate that feeling (happened with Lost Season 1).

IF it's not true, then I might price match at CC and get the Litho. Ahh, decisions, decisions.

Mr.Briggs 10-10-05 07:09 PM

Even with Super Saver Shipping I dread going to Amazon in the next day or 2 and seeing the words "we have begun preparing items for shipment". Can't wait for confirmation of the Best Buy deal so I can cancel Amazon & have CC pm it since I don't have a BB but they're close enough to pm).

rmick 10-10-05 08:03 PM

Although off topic, has it seemed that with Super Saving Shipping and since the end of Share the Love that the duration of "Preparing Items for Shipping" and "Shipping Soon" has just gotten longer and longer?

Best Buy should have all their deals up on their website tomorrow

not package deals...and I think that they post the pre-order pricing on Wednesday before release.

chipmac 10-11-05 04:02 AM

Well if it helps any I saw next week's Sunday insert for BB last night at work and there is no package deal advertised. The single disc Batman Begins is $14.99, the Deluxe 2 disc is $22.99, the 2 disc SEs of the earlier films are all $17.99 each and there is no listing for a box set of the four SEs. Now they might post a deal on their online site but somehow I doubt it, this close to the release date.

I work for a local newspaper and have seen all of the Sunday inserts and none of them advertise the deal that MonsterMan mentions above. CC's ad shows the single disc as $14.99 and the deluxe 2 disc as $22.99 same as BB. Target only shows the single disc for $15.99 I think it was. I didn't give it much thought since I'm not interested in the single disc version. So to get the 2 disc at less than $20 you'll need to buy online. Oh and they're giving a lithograph away with the purchase at CC and exclusive slipcover art at BB.

Target is selling the anthology for $49.99 and CC is selling it for $52.99 with each movie going for $17.99 if bought separately.

So, if they offer the deluxe for $10, wouldn't tthey offer the non-deluxe for like $5 or less then? I guess we'll see when we get the BB ads

gryffinmaster 10-11-05 07:47 AM

In the Best Buy circular, they didn't post a price for the Batman Anthology at all?

They'd be nuts not to advertise that boxed set.

Looks like I'm pricematching Target at CC for the Anthology and getting the lithograph with Batman Begins.

Well I can't say they have ALL package deals online (I don't often look), but they often have the buy 2 for $20 or buy one get another set so much off kind of deals online. I don't know if Best Buy had updated their website yet. Batman Begins is discounted, but nothing else I know of is and I don't see the Batman boxset. But I'm sure they update on Tuesdays most of the time, as I check virtually every Tuesday. And 95% of the time it is updated (although recently there have been a few lagging weeks)

I see $16.99 for the one-disc and $22.99 for the 2-disc.

The price for the upcoming releases usually update late Tuesday or on Wednesday prior to release date.

Package prices won't show up until Sunday.

I like how so many just accepted this as truth. I doubted this to begin with, but it looks like the ad is just proving it false. Maybe you got some bogus info, but as far as I've been told, it is in Christopher Nolan's contract that the earlier Batman films not be associated with his own as far as displays in-store go (or something like that), so why would they even have a package deal like that?

I don't know. Sounds a lot like wishful thinking to me.

K

gryffinmaster 10-12-05 07:35 AM

It does sound like wishful thinking. I'm not sure about the rest, but when I caught word of Target low priced boxed set and the CC litho, I went ahead and decided to rely on the B&M stores for the best prices and promotions. I, too, had heard that WB and Nolan did not want to associate the two movies since the newest Batman is a new format and a new franchise. However, things change in Hollywood. I mean, the new movies ARE being released the exact same day.

In the meantime, the BB offer is still floating around as a longshot that would be great for fans of the Batman character. I think everyone was skeptical of this as truth (as was I - $60.00 for everything?) until confirmed from a few sources. I definitely still am, but will be pleasantly surprised IF it is confirmed.

sotra 10-12-05 08:04 AM

For those that have a columbiahouse membership (fulfilled acct.) now is the time to get these. I received an email from ch yesterday saying b1g1f was the current deal, but when I clicked the link the deal was free shipping regardless of how many or few you order (including boxsets) and if you add 1 title that is more than 19.95 then the batman movies will be half price.
So, I ordered the following: Gladiator extended $22.77, Batman Begins deluxe ed. $12.48, batman se $10.48 and batman returns se $10.48.
Not bad at all IMHO.
