Yup, looks like Target is the lowest as far as the big B&M's go.

kenbenobi 10-17-05 05:56 PM

I know you all hate CH posts, but this box sets count as 2 FULFILLMENTS and costs only $42.97 (w/$5 WEBDVD coupon). So you can join and get 7 DVD's for $12.93, then fulfill with this set, then quit! If you want Batman Begins DE, it is $14.97 more, (other titles are 50% off as well)... FREE SHIPPING right now, so it seems like a no-brainer to me...

Al Padrino 10-17-05 06:38 PM

Is anyone gonna check out Wal-Mart? I was just on their website and they have the DE of Batman Begins listed at around $15. The Anthology is $50. I called the only Wal-Mart that'll be open at midnight, politely asked if they'd be putting them out at that time and got some surly-sounding lady who harshly responded, "If someone's here to do it," before hanging up.

The actual boxset or the individual DVDs?
EDIT: Sorry, that is kind of a silly question when you list the price 42.97 in your post.

gryffinmaster 10-17-05 10:19 PM

Yeah, an hour and 45 minutes ... and counting for me. Then I'm splitting to Wal-Mart to check out the prices and attempt to get them to pricematch Target and their website. :)

The actual box set... But, there's no guarantee the price will be the same tomorrow. I suppose that could be a special pre-order price, although I doubt it... I'll post again tomorrow to confirm...

The DE was $24.88 at my Walmart. Didn't see any Box Sets on the shelf and there was no one around to ask.

What about Sam's Club or Costco? They're usually pretty good with the box sets.

Doug Schiller 10-18-05 12:43 PM

Sam's Club in my area (Tampa Bay, FL)

Batman Anthology - $49.99 (I was expecting much less, like $39)
No Batman Begins Deluxe
No Big Lebowski
I was so disappointed I didn't bother to check the single disc Batman Begins, I think it was around $18. It did include another DVD that had a couple of episode of the newer animated series (big deal).
Land of the Dead UR $18.88

digitalfreaknyc 10-18-05 05:50 PM

I FUCKING HATE BEST BUY.

I just walked 25 minutes to the closest one and they sold out of the Anthology this morning. They said they only got 12 in stock and were sold out within an hour. Also, every best buy in manhattan is sold out and they don't know when they'll get any more in.

Rizor 10-18-05 06:36 PM

Anyone know if Costco or Sam's Club have these?

I went to Sam's earlier and was disappointed to see it not there, but sometimes they get boxed sets a little later.

Did you order it online with in-store pickup? That's probably the best thing to do in order to reserve a copy at BestBuy.

BigShemp 10-18-05 07:35 PM

I just called the Culver City/Marina Del Rey Costco. They don't have it. But the Hawthorne store has it on order. $49.99.

(laughs) Preach it, brother.

It is kinda odd that more stores aren't carrying it. I got one of two total from my local Target. Plus, I grabbed one of maybe half a dozen Batman Begins Deluxe Editions there too. Don't get me started on Wal-Mart :mad2: Freakin' midnight trip and all I had to show for it was a case of pepsi, a box of honey nut cheerios, and an empty space in my basket for where the Batman boxed set and the $25.00 BBDE would have been.

I love Target.

i wouldn't care except that the girl i spoke with said yes i will hold it for you and put your name on it....silly me, i assumed that meant she would hold it for me and put my name on it !!

it's not that big a deal; just a waste of my time....

by the way genius, some people actually work for a living, with my job i have people depending on me during office hours, i can't just hop over to by dvds whenever i feel like it....sheesh

For a different reason. I tried to price match this set with the ad from Target. I printed it out from the internet, and boy oh boy, did I get the usual bullshit from the idiots at Best Buy. It's amazing how untrained their staff is. Sometimes they price match it with no problem, sometimes the pea-brained customer service person can't tell the difference between a page printed from the internet and a internet-only website.

This time I get the the semi-standard answer "we can't price match from the internet like this".

My reply: Bullshit. Its a local ad.

We can't accept this. That's our policy.

My reply: Bullshit. Your policy is to price match based on proof of a local retailer selling something cheaper.

That's not our policy.

My reply: Show me your policy.

She then proceeds to pull out Best Buy's written price matching policy. And of course, its says nothing about pages printed from the internet. She circles one statement that makes absolutely no sense, and I tell her that. She looks perplexed (I guess that she really can't read and hoped that if she circled something I might not be able to read either and give up). I ask to speak to a manager, and I get a 20 year old "manager", who proceeds to check the internet to confirm that the ad I printed out was correct, he then printed it out (again) and told the girl to price match it.

All this to save $5? Sheesh. And I was already purchasing over $150 worth of new releases. What a way to treat your customers.

To add insult to injury, the stupid salesgirl tries to give me a lecture that "we'll pricematch it this time, but just so you know, this is not our policy, so next time you will need to bring in the actual newspaper ad for us to pricematch."

Already wasting 15 minutes of time educating Best Buy's staff on what Best Buy's WRITTEN POLICY is, I had no patience for this kind of crap, and told her same.

Best Buy really sucks. Does anyone think their customer service is not the worse?

Cameron 10-18-05 11:14 PM

just tell them to call across town next time...

i got it for 51 tax and all out the door...price match target at best buy, and used a 3 dollar monopoly piece on top..46.99 for the box....got batman beings deluxe, land of the dead for 16.99, which made the 1943 serial only 11.99 I used 29 dollars in bucks and selected in store pick up for those 3

reverie 10-19-05 06:56 AM

The Best Buy I went to yesterday had one copy of the box set.. with a razor cut across the side of it. :( So I'll be trying two on my way home today in hopes of finding it!

Jediturtle 10-19-05 07:07 AM

Not to rub salt in any wounds, but I had almost no problem getting my local Walmart (Plymouth, WI) to pricematch their own web site and got Batman Begins Deluxe for $15.xx. It took a quick call to a manager, who said they could only match what the price would be plus shipping, but since there were no shipping charges listed on the print out I brought in, rather than screw around trying to look it up, they just gave it to me for that price. Also, Land of the Dead and Saw:UR were both $16.xx under their "Save on their sale price" tags. For once, it was a very happy trip to WalMart...very unexpected! Of course, this is a big YMMV, but it might be worth a shot.
