Nice find.. Looks like several other Criterions are marked lower than their normal discounts as well. Looking through my wishlist, I see:

Le Trou
The Firemen's Ball
Loves of a Blonde
Le Corbeau
Pickup on South Street

..all marked at $23.93, which is about $5.00 less than the normal DDD price on $40 Criterions.. I wonder if this is some kind of promotion? I don't see a common thread between these titles.

I also just noticed they raised the prices on a handful as well: Gimme Shelter, Diary of a Country Priest, Indiscretion of an American Wife, Salvatore Guiliano, and The Discreet Charm of the Burgeosise all used to be about $28.76 and now they're $31.91.

Keep in mind that those 5 you listed are 29.95 Criterions, not 39.95. Good deal on The Ruling Class, though.

I think the Ruling Class is one of the 5 Criterion titles that are offered by Columbia House. They aren't available for enrollment, though. The last time I looked, the average cost for a standard enrollment with 2 criterion fullfilments was around $10/disk. Still not a bad deal. There is a thread in the dvd clubs sub-forum about if you are interested.

My bad, I didn't even think to look at the retail, so it looks like all of those I listed have actually been raised from their normal $21.56 price. I hope the price fluctuations settle down by the time of the next sale. If not, I'll just order others that are at the normal "lower" price.

This is pretty crappy news. DVD Planet is by far the way to go.

On 50 weeks out of the year, this is definately true..

Deal dead. The Ruling Class is back to $26.38 now. It's still slightly cheaper than most of their other $39.95 MSRP Criterions, but not as cheap as DVDPlanet now.
