I went into a target.
I was holding a Band of Brothers.
A clerk came over with a hand scanner and zapped it
She seemed happy and went on to scan the rest.

I scanned it later to find it $79.99

Oh well.

I most likely would have done the same thing.

I went back to the Oro Valley (Tucson) AZ store, and scanned almost every TV show they had, and found 3rd Rock from the Sun was the only one that rang up for $5.99, so I purchased it. I am thinking about going to a few other targets tongiht just to see if I have any luck, as the picture above gets my hopes and morale up, HIGHLY!!!

I agree....that kind of greed takes away from others being able to find a good bargain that they want for themselves. He or she is probably hoping to make a fortune on eBay from those. It's just sad.

It's no better or worse than knowingly buying one mispriced item.

someone should email that picture to Target after this whole thing is over (although maybe they'd be more careful about this sort of thing in the future, so maybe it's not a good idea)

I'm not naive. When I found my local Target fresh out of all copies of Looney Tunes, it was evident someone had taken the store for a boatload.

I asked a salesperson about it, he said a woman had come in and taken 10 or so as "gifts" for her relatives.

Oh well... i've had my fair share of luck, losing out on DVD's is hardly worth contemplating for very long.

Stopped at 5 Targets this afternoon on my drive from San Antonio to Austin. One store in San Antonio had Jaws at $5.99 so I bought 2. All the others had regular prices for everything I scanned.

Actually, Ebay's pretty flooded right now with all the titles mentioned in this thread.

Minneapolis Update:

Checked Burnsville, everything but The Jerk scanned normal price. I grabbed the last 2 copies. The store was out of most other items

St Louis Park: Restocked for many titles but normal price

Crystal City: Restocked and normal price

Look like our funs has officially come to an end.

man, I hate to see crap like that. Maybe I'm just jealous that I wasn't able to score anything though.

Man, I'm jealous of you guys, but good for you.

Target in Framingham, MA all rang up regular price.. or I assume, only scanned the two I was interested in, gilmore girls sets, and the band of brothers, so I might be wrong. They had tons of friends etc. but that's not my cup of tea.

i'm surprised that some posters are angry with others for scoring all the 'swag' that they could. i told as many people as i could about this and i wasn't able to score a single box set at the 'special' price. i definitely would've bought as many as i could if i would've had the chance. i'm far from rich and it would've been nice to defray the cost of the dvd's i've purchased in the last two years (over eight hundred). congrats to everyone who was able to score on this mega-mistake.

As far as I can tell most (if not all) Targets in MA never had any of the more popular sets mispriced (BoB, Friends, SandTC etc.), but instead had older/less popular ones.
Today I went again to Target in Hadley, MA (went on Tuesday as well and got Macgyver S1&2, Moonlighting S1&2) ) and they are clueless there. Got more Moonlighting, Miami Vice, Pocahontas, Newsradio, Murder She Wrote and MASH.
At the register the cashier guy didn't even blink once. All they are worried about there is getting fired if they don't get their "numbers". So after checking out he was very happy and said thank you 3 times to me
Lok for my post in the trades. Thanks.
