Went to check the Oro Valley Target and again no go. Anyone else in Tucson? I was going to at least try the Oracle/Roger, but the monsoon dampened by spirits and I just went home. BTW, I checked the Ina/Thornydale last night and they had nothing.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, but the story is kind of funny, and I'm glad you shared it (about someone getting mad at corporate or whatever).

Tried Howell, NJ, at lunchtime and everything was scanning regular prices. Anyone tried Princeton or Hightstown?

Tried the Germantown store, the shelves were cleaned out. Did see a tag for Jaws 30th saying price cut with the $5.99 price.

JRColvin 08-09-05 03:28 PM

Louisville KY -- As stated earlier, the Target in St. Matthews didn't have any ringing up at $5.99 this morning as far as I could tell, but the Target at Hurstbourne/Taylorsville Rd. did have one -- Moonlighting -- out of about 20 titles that I tried. I'm glad to have this DVD set for $5.99, because I never would have bought it otherwise. I think it scanned at $39.99 at the St. Matthews store.

Bastard!

I went there on my lunch break and picked up Jaws, Triumph, and Dumb & Dumber. Seabiscuit was $5.99 too, but all they had was full-screen. There were tags for all of these.

Sadly, the last BoB they had scanned at $89.99, and none of the Friends or Sex and the Citys worked either.

Have you tried the La Habra Target yet?

sade 08-09-05 03:38 PM

No go in GA (stone mountain, of 78 hwy) :( at least I found some good steak :)

Chad 08-09-05 03:39 PM

Just got a new Target locally...but it hasn't opened yet.

Darknite39 08-09-05 03:45 PM

I'm kinda glad I don't have a Target near me. I've spent too damn much on DVDs lately as it is. It'd be too hard to resist plunking down the cash for at least one of each set.

Perkinsun Dzees 08-09-05 04:05 PM

I hit the Pico Rivera, CA store on Whittier this morning. They were still well stocked and had a lot of titles (FRIENDS, SEX AND THE CITY, BOB, OC, BUFFY, etc) that were ringing up at $5.99. Some guy who was there at the same time I was, picked up a load of FRIENDS sets. I decided to play it safe and only brought up 3 or 4 titles at a time to different registers. I left all the FRIENDS and SEX AND THE CITY sets because I wasn't interested in them. I ended up with 12 box sets in all, some of which will make nice gifts.

Anyway, I went back a couple of hours later and the shelves had all been cleaned out of the $5.99 titles. It turns out some idiot had gone there and tried to buy up all the $5.99 sets at once, which naturally made the manager suspicious and so they confiscated all the titles and refused to sell any of them. Once again, someone's greed blows the deal for everyone.

I went to both Targets in Mobile, AL and scanned a few titles (Band of Brothers, OC, 24, Looney Tunes, etc) and they all came up regular price on the customer price check machine in the middle of the store. Should I have gotten a store employee try to ring them up or would it have mattered? What did everyone else do?

renaldow 08-09-05 04:24 PM

My mileage varied. :(

It should ring up as the same price at checkout as it does on the customer price check scanner. Sorry.

The price it scans at is the price it will ring up as, so I don't think having a cashier ring it up would have made any difference.

This will alert to them that there's some pricing error goign on..just check the prices @ portable scanners..or an employee on the floor with a scanner....it seems a safe bet to bring them a copy of newlyweds 1 & 2, pochahantas 2 DVD SE, One Tree Hill, and Monk Season 3...at EVERY Target I was at yesterday & today they are 5.99

Good luck, I'll post my recpts as well.

I checked the Oracle/Roger store and no dice. I also check the El Con Mall store and the Broadway store and neither had $5.99 titles. I guess we tucsonians don't get any love.

CrashNBurn69 08-09-05 04:34 PM

ARGH!!! i was so close!!! i went back to the store and asked if they had any in the back. he brings out gilmore girls, the oc, and band of bros. im thinking "holy sweet ass!" i wanted to go pay up front where they dont know anything about dvds but he said i had to pay in the electronics. once he scanned BoB he knew something was wrong then called someone up and said he didnt have permission to sell those. i didnt want to get him in trouble because he's a friend so i didnt fight it. ill just have to go back when someone else is working and try again. *fingers crossed*

I didn't mean I was going to scan BoB on the portable scanner and when it came up $89.99, show an employee and have him/her scan it at a register. :D

But anyways, I might go back to the Target closest to me just to make sure I don't miss out on this deal. I'll grab a couple of things, like Band of Brothers, Batman, and The OC, and check them via employee rather than a scanner.

I urge you to just do it by using scanners on end caps. Speaking to employees only brings more attention...and they <b>DO</b> talk to each other.

DerangedHermit 08-09-05 04:45 PM

It was a go at the recently opened Medford, NY store. Got:
Newsradio S1/2
Monk S3
Miami Vice S1
MacGuyver S2
3rd Rock S1

Bottom 3 are FT/FS

Eve Brown 08-09-05 04:51 PM

Well I missed out on the sets but did get 2 Pocahontas 2 disc. I tried many box sets and noticed a few empty slots of sex in the city, oc 1 and gilmore girls 2 that had dots on them. When i went to check out I asked about oc 1 and gilmore girls 2 but they had already been fixed. Oh well should have gone last night between my day job and night job.

Well, as I don't live near a Target, I asked a friend of mine in Atlanta to look. He got Moonlighting, and the two Loony Toons sets. He got copies of the Loony Toons sets for me, but no Band of Brothers, which is what I was really looking for. :( But I'm certainly not going to complain! I just want to thank everyone on this thread and especially MBradley for sharing this with all of us.
