(DEAD) Aladdin: Platinum Edition -- $10.95 shipped

Here's the link:

Aladdin: Platinum Edition at CDWow

Keep in mind that you need to use the $2 coupon (maybe someone can link to it?) to get the $10.95 price.

While you're there, pick up Antonioni's Blow-Up for $7.95 shipped.

I know a lot of Disney movies go out of print... is it worth buying this and leaving it sealed until it does go OOP for resale purposes??

thanks, ben

Yup..if you already have one, that should be the rationale behind getting one..Disney DVDs are can be notoriously 'priced' once they are OOP. At this price, its a steal..I have a feeling its a price mistake..so get it soon. BTW, its a great movie..one of Disney's best

Thanks to the OP!

I've been waiting to find a good deal on the Aladdin DVD anyways, so this was great.

I also ordered 2 extra copies. This will be my first time playing the "OOP Disney/Ebay" game once Aladdin is sealed back up in the vault.

Thanks for this heads up. I've been looking for a good price for this one. (From the sounds of it, I could wait a few months and get it really cheap on EBay though)

be prepared to wait at least 2 years to make even $5 on your $11 investment.

dont let that bother you, slappy. The $9.95 each investment on the Toy Story series resulted in a net profit of $45..so who cares if it sits on a shelf collecting dust as long the dust collects $$$ ?

There are so many more being produced today as compared to even a few years ago when Toy Story was out that I doubt these will ever reach much more than 20-30 max. I would lean towards 20. They are just to readily available. To each his own though.

Same here.

And to the posters thanking me for helping them maybe make $10 in two years... you're welcome... I guess. Although you might be better off just putting $10.95 in a savings account...

Also, a quick heads-up--if you can play R2 PAL discs, CDWow has Shrek/Shrek 2 Collection for $7.95 shipped after coupon.

Use the UPC from it towards another DVD from one of Disney's oft repeated promotions and get yourself another DVD for cheap from Disney. And then Ebay that one too. You just have to make the purchase work for you - not just let it sit on the shelf and collect dust. I am telling you from experience - the instant the phrase 'Out of print' starts describing a product, it starts commanding a premium. Anyway, if this thread is active two years from now, perhaps I can chip in with news of my profits.

Aladdin will never sell for anything higher than MSRP because of the millions and millions of copies available. Many millions more than Toy Story. The market is saturated with it. Back when Toy Story was released, not everyone had DVD players. Now, more than 90% of people do. If someone wants to own the Aladdin DVD, chances are they've already purchased it by now.

Ah well... if I can make some money on my 2 extra copies, great... if not, no huge loss. I can sell them off any time and make a few bucks more than the $10.95 I paid most likely.

I'm still trying to decide whether I should sell off my old Toy Story "Toy Box" set... I like it, but I could always get the big money for it now, and just buy the new editions that will come out.

Seem like everyone is trying their best to make some extra money in ebay. My opinion is we can try our best to learn as much as we can, try the new method and i am sure we will success, right? :)

Best Regards,
Kenneth

This looks like a good deal for Aladdin whether or not you want it or just plan to hold on to it to eBay later. The price for blow up is pretty good too.

thanks OP!

Gotta agree with you there - also, I think Buena Vista took advantage of the high demand for the first two platinums to sell tons of the later ones.

However, at this price you can't go wrong - I already own it but got one for my wife (now separated, but I kept the DVDs).
