DvD Trade Ins?

Wheres the best place to turn in used DVDS? I have always taken them to Blockbuster because they give me atleast 5 bucks on each one but apparantly they dont do that anymore. So i'm left with a bunch of DVDS i want to trade in but no where to trade them. I could go to movie gallery but they dont give a whole lot for trade ins. Anyone know a good place?

Romyrick,

As MediaPlay used to do; Suncoast will take 4:1 on Tuesdays, and every other day of the week, a single used DVD trade in will get you a "new" release for $13.99 or something close to that. I have used this as recently as buying Shaun of The Dead... You may want to give your local Suncoast a buzz first to double check.....

Hope this helps,

Matt

FYE gives store credit for used DVDs. You can see how much you will get at wherehouse.com

Secondspin.com. I trade-in DVDs to one of their few B&Ms every so often. They seem to pay more than Wherehouse for most of the trade-ins I've done.

BBV doesn't take trade-ins anymore? Since when?

They still take trades, but there is no longer a $5 minimum.

I visited Blockbuster last week with 3 DVDs to trade in and they only gave me $3 for each one compared to their former minimum price of $5!

What really gets me going is that if you want to use your credit for a new title, BBV wants $21.99! Now lets see...if I trade in 7 DVDs, that will give me almost one new title.

I would save at least $6-7 by visiting other retailers. It would be like just giving my used DVDs away to BBV!

Doesn't seem to make much sense.

If it didn't make much sense, why did you make the trade?

He obviously assumed the $5 minimum was still in effect, as i'm sure many others have.

i wish i had found that site sooner. i have around $150 credit at wherehouse and don't want to spend it on anything since everything is overpriced there. i'd rather have money in my hand.

I decided to go ahead with the trade since I would have received slightly more by mailing them to a site that pays for DVDs, but after you figure in the shipping costs, the difference was marginal.

It gave me peace of mind knowing I didn't need to count on Blockbuster for trades in the future!

I like going to Coconuts (part of the FYE chain). You can visit the wherehouse website and see what you'll get in trade:
http://www.wherehouse.com/
Two cautions- If the store has too many copies of a title they may not take yours (just go back a week later) and they recently instituted a 20% penalty if you take cash instead of store credit.

At the Wherehouse near us you get 25% less when you take cash instead of store credit. For example, the online quote might show $5 for some DVD which is often the same as SecondSpin, but if I want cash back I'll only get $3.75.

I went to wherehouse.com and looked at my dvds, but they tell me I need to ship my dvds to them. It doesn't mention FYE. do they have some agreement or something?

Is this every Suncoast or just certain ones? When did they start doing this?

dvdplanet.com gives pretty good values. I'm thinking about trading in some dvd's that I will buy for HD-DVD.

I've traded in to DVD Planet/Digital Eyes on several occasions and have been very happy with the prices they've offered, as well as the low prices on their DVDs. Go for it.

One of the better deals recently was the trade in 4, get 1 worth $26.99 deal at FYE. That's about $6.75 per disc. Don't know when or if they'll do it again though.
