Hellsing the Complete Collection 4 Disc Anime $16.99 at Bestbuy.com

Saw this at Dvdpricesearch this morning. It appears to be a misprice as the next cheapest is about 80 something dollars.

kar10 03-22-05 08:35 AM

backordered! :(

Shagrath 03-22-05 08:39 AM

I Haven't seen this, and am not a *huge* anime fan. I usually don't like "TV" anime because the production values are usually lacking. I really like the Ghibli stuff as well as stuff from Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, etc.) and some other theatrically released stuff. I know this is a misprice, and the addict in me says "ORDER! ORDER!", but do would I even really like it is the question?

MrPink 03-22-05 12:39 PM

I say order it. If you don't like you could always pass it along to another DVD talker for what you have into it, trade it in, or Ebay.
I'm not a huge anime fan but reading the anime thread I have found some stuff that I like.

Oh yeah!

Thanks for the post! They had one left at southcenter, Wa branch. It was taged 16.99
Amazon is selling this box set for around 90.00 bucks! Best deal so far this year!
Once again, thanks!

[edit#2]

Adrenaline 03-22-05 07:08 PM

I got an email this afternoon (I ordered at around 4:30am EST) saying it'll ship around the 27th.

darmok 03-22-05 10:27 PM

thanks, OP. gave it a shot. couldn't hurt, and the series was very watchable.

Si1veR 03-22-05 11:15 PM

Thanks, I just ordered one. Hope it comes.

profbobo 03-22-05 11:19 PM

Wow! I had to order this. Thanks!

Kamikaze 03-22-05 11:36 PM

Here's a link for those of you who don't want to search. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....duct&id=310376

All three stores near me had this available for in-store pickup.

Myster X 03-22-05 11:39 PM

ordered one
why is this set so expensive???????

Cameron 03-23-05 01:18 AM

got it for in store pick up...screwed em again

DonnachaOne 03-23-05 01:47 AM

I think everyone got in-store pickup... it's now unavailable everywhere!

justbarelymovin 03-23-05 02:46 AM

As someone mentioned in the Anime Bargains thread, once inventory gets low online, stuff starts showing up as unavailable for pick-up. However, if you go to your local Best Buy, chances are, something might be there. I went in for the Gunparade March set, and sure enough, there were two right before my eyes even though BB cancelled my online order because of it being on backorder.

I'm just hoping some of us anime fanatics will actually score the set.

Ditto. It was unavailable for pickup on the day this came out. Now that it's hit every site, I hope it'll still ship by next week!

Perkinsun Dzees 03-23-05 05:30 AM

Thanks! Hopefully my Best Buy will have a copy left on the shelf.

I didn't. It was unavailable before the post. I checked 2 of the 3 local Best Buys, and there wasn't even a spot on the shelf for it. I got them to look it up in the computer, and the information there was that it doesn't come out until the 29th?!?!? Maybe a re-release? Very confusing.

fujishig 03-23-05 11:02 AM

Geneon is re-releasing this series in invidual volumes for a cheaper price (15-20 per volume, I think, down from the original 29.99)... which is probably why they're clearancing these. Of course, who knows how Best buy's pricing works, especially on anime.

Twocool4u1 03-23-05 12:04 PM

so do i order online and pick it up at the store? it says sold out online. or do i just go to the store and hope i can find it and that they will match the bestbuy online price?

does anyone know if this is true for an order already placed for shipping instead of local pickup? I tried local pickup but the ones around my house and work all show unavailable.

Cameron 03-23-05 12:09 PM

my in store pick up was cancelled, they are shipping it free ground, said it could take 25 days.

:sigh: I don't know why I'd even go through the trouble of mentioning something like that if I hadn't already verified it myself. If you had taken the time to browse through the thread, I even made a post concerning being able to pick up the Gunparade March set in store even though it was listed as unavailable for in store pick-up. I'm pretty sure I mentioned that within this very thread as well. Others have also confirmed the same thing in the thread I linked to. The Hellsing boxset is probably scarcer, so good luck finding it. But seriously, please read people's posts before asking questions that have already been answered, and in my opinion, quite clearly.

I'm sorry that you are feeling frustrated or exasperated at my question. I did indeed read the entire thread before asking. My question was not "are they available in the stores" but rather "would the store allow for a pickup even though the online order has been placed in indicates shipment rather than pickup"

No, you can't go to the store with your online order and pick it up from there instead of having them ship it. Neither can you pricematch a price from their website. In fact, the internal intranet in Best Buy has different prices on the "bestbuy.com" website, so even if you go to their terminal and look it up in front of them, it may not display the same price.

Also, I remember looking for a TIVO, seeing that it was in stock at one of the stores, and going over to buy it, only to be told they can't find it and it was some kind of inventory mistake.

Also, the Hellsing set is a bit older than the other deals in the anime thread (Gunparade March, etc.), so it will be harder to find...
