Movie Gallery But 2 Get 2 (3/7)

Went into Movie Galley today and the manager told me that the "Buy 2 Get 2" sale starts Monday(3/7). She said Shark Tale will be pulled on Monday for $9.99.

Flynn 03-04-05 10:19 PM

GREAT NEWS. I've been holding off on quite a few in anticipation of this sale.

stickz2 03-05-05 08:08 AM

Do ALL Movie Gallery's accross the U.S. and in Canada follow the same dates for this deal? I went to our local Movie Gallery in Atlantic Canada (Prince Edward Island) and the deal was coming up soon, but he couldn't find the exact dates. I'm just wondering if I should expect our sale to start on 03/07/2005 also? It appears that all the chains follow the same procedures, but I'm curious what others think???

Dah-Dee 03-05-05 09:01 AM

Thank you very, very much! :)

SunMonkey 03-05-05 09:30 AM

What new stuff since the last sale will be available for this?

daddydaryl 03-05-05 04:30 PM

I stopped by MG today and was told the sale starts 3-11, so a Monday start may be YMMV

DVD-Obsession 03-05-05 11:00 PM

The sale is from 3/11 - 3/27....

Flynn 03-05-05 11:29 PM

I went into my local one today and was told "Yeah... that won't be for another month or two..." by the manager. I'll check back Monday :)

stickz2 03-06-05 09:15 AM

The local manager told me the other day that he found it strange for the sale to start on 3/11. He said most deals start on Sunday or Monday. The 11th is a Friday. Oh well, I guess I'll check back again today and see if they finally have an official date.

Bobweiser 03-06-05 11:29 AM

Actually, most (if not all) of their sales have started on a Friday. They all end on Sundays, so maybe that's what the manager was thinking. I've picked up quite a few additions to my collection at these MG sales and am pretty sure this is their standard m.o. I'm also curious as to what's new out there, so if anyone has anything they've seen, please share. I know Aliens vs. Predator and Saw are going to be available soon for $9.99 each, but I have no new updates on anything else.

wennma01 03-06-05 11:40 AM

is the saw case going to be like the original with the clear plastic case and slip cover...or are they going to give us some weird combination like they did with i,robot & re:apocalypse?

Well I just got back from the local store and confirmed they are also starting the sale on 03/11 (Friday). I guess it's the same with all U.S. and Canadian stores.

hurricane 03-06-05 08:47 PM

The manager at my store said it doesn't start until 3/11/05.

brooke789 03-06-05 09:18 PM

I picked up a Movie Gallery VideoBuzz magazine from my local store this evening and it listed the dates of the sale as 3/11-3/27.

MrE 03-07-05 08:56 AM

I've been hitting the B2G2 sales for a couple of years and they have ALL started on Friday. Most of the stores pull PVDs on Monday. And I've found some managers a little slow on when the sale starts.

Geofferson 03-07-05 09:12 AM

I heard 3/11 start date as well from my store.

I've never participated in this sale before. We have a couple movie galleries so I guess I'll shop around. In either case, I assume this is for used DVD's. Are their used movies reasonably in shape? Do they replace your movie if you bring it home, watch it, and it has issues?

Does this include all used movies? Do they sell used boxed sets. I'll have to stop by a movie gallery this afternoon and check out the selection.

superdeluxe 03-07-05 10:43 AM

Good was waiting on AVP and a few others.

At my Movie Gallery, they offer a lifetime guarantee on all the DVDs (as long as the receipt is kept). I have never had a problem with the DVDs: they are analogous to the PVD ones at Blockbuster. I like Movie Gallery because for 99% percent of the movies, they have the original case and insert (I have had no luck finding outer boxes -- like ones on Spiderman 2/Finding Nemo). To possibly get 4 new movies for $20-$25 is amazing. Also, take a look on Mondays, the day before they put the movies out, because people at my stores are vultures, and by late Tuesday, the good movies are gone. Just ask to see their unshelved inventory. Good Luck

Lots of times, I will get used DVDs from there that look almost brand new. The lifetime garauntee on their previously viewed titles is also very awesome, as long as the store you bought the disc at doesn't go out of business. I just got around to watching a DVD last night that I purchased during the B2G2 sale in August and discovered that it had some severe skipping problems. I returned the DVD to the store where I purchased it, they didn't have any more copies of the movie in stock (Bad-der Santa) so they let me get something else that was the same price.

MScottM 03-07-05 12:52 PM

Do they have stickers all over the discs like BB does?

I will add that I got a PV Bourne Supremacy last time the sale was on and I got around to watching it a week or two ago and it skipped like mad. I couldn't find the reciept for this one but they exchanged for me no problem even without a reciept.

The discs are not (usually) covered with all kinds of stickers and junk, and they sometimes include all the original inserts. The nbiggest difference is that I have yet to find a slip cover for any movie there (I, Robot, King Arthur, Res Evil etc.)

Shagrath 03-07-05 01:09 PM

For movies that come with slipcovers (and are not the specialized covers that they get like RE: Apocalypse), I've had good luck with just asking if they had it, and they'd go get one from the back. The only movie I've bought from them that had a slipcover was Chronicles of Riddick.

brooke789 03-07-05 02:30 PM

My local MG has Hero with the slipcovers, but I don't think that they usually have slipcovers on their movies.

kornboy 03-07-05 03:40 PM

just called the one closest to me, and they said the 2 for 2 sale starts this friday.. 3/11 (haha, good band, there from omaha too!)
