Best Buy B&M Spidey 2 Superbit deal (3 Superbits for approx. $40): YMMV?
Just came back from my local Best Buy, picked up a couple of Christmas movies, but also saw they were putting up displays for tomorrow, including a Superbit deal listed on those small yellow rectangular shelf tags they often use for in-store deals:
Buy Spidey 2 Superbit along with a Superbit title from a list of 21, and get another one from the list free instantly. The titles are listed below, deal expires 12/11/04.
Looks like this deal has now been confirmed per posts in this thread (and my own happy shopping experience
); this is the complete list of included titles:
Bad Boys 2
Black Hawk Down
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Cirque du Soleil - Dralion
Cliffhanger
Cowboy Bebop: The Movie
Fifth Element
Heavy Metal
Hook
Johnny Mnemonic
Lawrence of Arabia
Leon: The Professional
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Snatch
Spider-Man
Starship Troopers
S.W.A.T.
The Guns of Navarone
The Mask of Zorro
The Missing
Underworld
Edit: Please note that, as posted in this thread, you should give the most expensive of the 2 titles other than Spider-Man 2 to the cashier *LAST* in order to maximize the value of the deal, as it seems the last one is always ringing up as the free one regardless of whether it is the lower-priced one.
Please note, however, that for the online deal listed below this apparently will not work; the system seems to select as your free title the lowest-priced one no matter the order in which you place them in your cart.
Edit 12/05/04: This deal is now also online "for one week only" (expires 12/11, same as in-store): Link .... seems like not quite as a good a deal as the in-store deal was last week, as the Spideys are no longer on sale, but for those of you interested Spider-Man 2 Superbit is listed twice, as the deal-triggering title *and* in the list of titles for your second and third choices, so you can pick up multiple copies (e.g., gift-giving) if you want to.

Interesting.... I actually want to get Black Hawk Down and I'm getting Spiderman 2 Superbit and Spider-man Superbit.
I hope it's avaiable at my Best Buy as well.

I just hope I read the shelf tag correctly! I'll be checking tomorrow at lunch....

Sounds good, even if it is unadvertised. Remember a while back the Fox 2 for $20 deal was in stores, before it was advertised

This is exactly what I was hoping for as I am also looking to pick-up Spiderman and Spiderman 2 in superbit flavor...and a another for free only seals the deal.

That's not a bad deal, yet I find myself wondering how much I want to spend on the film at this point. Its a terrific film, but Raini's mentioned in several interviews that he's preparing an "enhanced" version, -a "Spider-Man 2.5" as it were, -that will polish some of the action scenes with new CGI shots and other additions. He's admitted its strictly a "money grab" on Sony's part, but he'll take the opportunities provided to him...

It was going on at my Best Buy. The sale DOES include Spider-Man as well as Heavy Metal. I didn't see any indication of a sale until I went looking on the shelves and noticed a yellow sale strip that they tuck into the shelves.
Thanks Dah-Dee!

I'm not Steve, but I'll add that I'm in Tampa, and I also don't have a scanner.
Just try ringing it up, and if it doesn't work, just say you changed your mind.
One word on this, however. The DVDs will scan the normal prices. Then when the cashier totals the order, a screen will come up telling the cashier about the promotion.
Another word: I couldn't get SM for 14.99, SM2 for 17.99, and Black Hawk Down for free. The computer automatically takes off the least expensive DVD.

Thanks for the info on Spidey and Heavy Metal. I thought there were more titles involved than I listed, just couldn't remember them all....
Went to a different local Best Buy at lunchtime and there were no shelf tags out for this deal, but the guys in that section told me their shipment of 80 Spidey 2 Superbits had not come in, so they thought that was why the shelf tags were not out yet.
Edit: Thanks also for info on S.W.A.T. being included. I also hear that Snatch, Starship Troopers, Lawrence of Arabia are part of this deal

Deal good in Lexington, Ky.
Word of wisedom if you want the original Spiderman SB that is on sale for $14.99....to maximize the deal get 4 total dvds and make them ring up Spiderman separately. The reason is because they will give you spiderman as the freebie instead of a more expensive dvd.

Thanks Dah-Dee:
I now wish I hadn't bought Once Upon a Time in Mexico (btw: great superbit). So I pu'd Swat and Bad Boys II, plus SM 2 SB and DD Dir Cut (price match w/Neb Furn Mart). total $51 + tax. Again, thanks to Dah-Dee. I would not have seen the shelf talker, since I picked up SM 2 SB from their aisle display...had to confirm the sale with an employee.
