The Official Best Preorder Price for ROTK:EE Thread

Ok guys and gals...

Buy.com: $27.99 w/free shipping
Amazon: $23.99 ($21.59 w/STL)
DVDEmpire: $29.95
DVDSoon: $30.07 (USD)
BestBuy.com: $29.99 (likely to go down prior to release)
CircuitCity.com: $34.99 (likely to go down prior to release)

Hard to beat the Amazon STL price. However you need to purchase another item of at least a $1 to get free shipping included. Also you can save another 1.57% with the A9.com instant reward.

Wow, this title isn't due out until mid-December, right? It might be a bit too early to start posting the best prices.

That said, I think the Amazon STL price is very good.

squaresoft7 10-01-04 02:08 PM

thats funny I was coming here to post this cause a friend sent me STL on this, i thought 21.59 was a great preorder price, don't think any of the B&M's can beat this, 24.99 is probably as close as they can get.

darqleo 10-01-04 02:17 PM

I usually buy my LOTR DVDs through deepdiscountdvd.com via preorder, but I think I'll just bricks & mortar it this time.

Wapcaplet 10-01-04 02:25 PM

I preordered both of the first LOTR Extended DVDs through Amazon with STL, and I remember that the price for each of them was just above $25 before STL was added.

ROTK:EE is actually a cheaper preorder at Amazon than the first two extended DVDs were!

Yes...I don't think the B&M's can touch this one as well...Great price and I will gladly give them my money (even though I will probably wait a little longer to get it).

Also, I wouldn't be suprised it Amazon raised their prices to 25.99 or so....

Amazon has recently raised prices on a few other pre-orders (Friends Season 8 and Batman:TAS Vol. 2). They may not honor the current price.

What about the best price for the giftset? I may pick up the giftset since I already have the last two sets :D

I thought so too but with my bad memory, I wasn't going to put it into writing.

Amazon's the way to go. You can always cancel if the prices come down elsewhere (unlikely) or if they raise the price.

awc825 10-01-04 04:19 PM

The best price I've seen so far for the giftset is $50 at FYE.

brkhrt7 10-01-04 04:40 PM

Damn! The extended version is only $19.99 there as well.

Amazon is still the cheapest /w STL after factoring in the shipping charge.

How do you figure? Looks to me like FYE is ~$22 (shipping included) while Amazon is $24.57 (shipping included) even with STL.
Even so, I will still use Amazon as I know if there is a problem it will be quickly handled with a minimum of fuss. I can't recall dealing with FYE. If I have it was long ago. Can anyone recommend them?

You will likely have to add sales tax to the FYE amount since they have B&M stores in most states. But for a few dollars more you would be better off purchasing from Amazon.

I will be placing an order Saturday at 12 noon EST. Anyone who wants STL let me know or add yourselves to STL at DVDtalk (www.dvdtalk.com/stl) STL price is $21.59, add something worth $3.41 for free shipping.

Actually, you'll only need $1.01 in order to qualify for free shipping. They calculate the free shipping before any coupon and discounts.

abercrombieboy 10-01-04 09:45 PM

It might ask, but when you get to the checkout page it is actually less.
