I was seconds from finalizing my order, then I went to DDD and did the math and found out after the 20% off it's the same price as outpost+shipping. So I'll wait til then.

If it's the same price as DDD w/ 20% why wait? No one is even definitely sure that sale will happen, plus this way you get it now . Come on, you know you want it.

Has anyone checked if this price is valid at Fry's?

Good price for the boxset. Getting Seven Samurai and Hidden Fortress alone would cost that much!

Thanks for the post! Tax and shipping in Tx kills it for me but thanks I will wait and hopefully DDD comes through on a 20% off sale!

Is it a preorder? It says "call for availability" and has a link that explains what a preorder is. It is not clear though.

Call for Availability means that it might be out of stock and backordered.

dammit, dammit, dammit, dammit, dammit. Just bought Seven Samurai. But it's still sealed. What to do, what to do, what to do. Think I paid about $23 for it new.

I just got mine a few months ago for $65. Since I had free shipping, it was only $8 more than this deal. And worth every penny. Those who haven't seen some or all of these yet are in for a treat.

I already own Seven Samurai and Hidden Fortress but have been wanting Yojimbo and Sanjuro for a long time. I can buy this set and trade or sell the shrinkwrapped versions of the ones I have and keep the other two. Joy!

Oh, and if you're looking to gild the lily (literally):

Be careful. I may be wrong, but I believe the movies in the Criterion samurai box set are not individually shrink-wrapped.

Right, the recent boxed sets of previously available titles were not shrink wrapped (Samurai Trilogy and Great Adaptations). On the other hand, the titles in the Hitchcock set were individually shrink wrapped.

If I didn't hate Seven Samurai so much I would buy this set. However this is a really good deal.
