Anyone know of a cheap copy of That Thing You Do?
First of all, I'd like to say that for the past six months or so I've been an avid reader of DVDTalk but haven't found a reason to post, until now that is, and so I just wanted to say hi to everyone.
Secondly, I've been looking for quite some time for a cheap copy of That Thing You Do. I can get it used on half.com for about $14, and found it at Circuit City yesterday for $15. Has anyone seen a low priced copy of it anywhere? Thanks for the help!

I actually got That Thing You Do the Columbia House route, where it averaged to be a bit less than $7. Otherwise, I haven't seen many discounts on it in quite a while. Definitely worth getting, though, it's a great movie.

Also love this movie, and have it on DVD (as well as the CD soundtrack). Unfortunately, the DVD quality is a bit disappointing for the vintage of the movie. Fox could have done better. But I don't expect a better SE release will be released anytime soon.

That's too bad about the quality being poor, and sadly I can't afford to do the Columbia House thing....yet. Being a poor college student and all. I'll keep my eyes open for random discounts to places, but DVDSoon seems to be the best option for now. I've heard the shipping is pretty slow....any thoughts on that? Thanks.

I would not say that the quality is "poor," that's too strong, but it's certaintly not up to Fox's best standards and to me doesn't look as good as some titles from Fox that are much older.
I'd give it a "fair+" or maybe "good-" on the spectrum of excellent--good--fair--poor--terrible.
Just my opinion. Others think more highly of it, such as this review:

But these dvdtalk reviews sort of agree that it's a little disappointing:

I agree that the biggest problem is softness. I'd still buy it.
