I must have gotten my order in just before the bell. Ordered Alias, Angel and Will and Grace. Also received Free Shipping on my order.

No confirmation email as of yet.

Here is my deal.

I ordered the following.

Everwood: Complete First Season

Alias: Season 3

Clerks

American Dreams: Season One - Extended Music Edt

Without a Trace: Complete First Season

When I placed the order, the confirmation screen showed my total as $56.65. I have not recieved an email yet. When I log into my account, it shows this order and they are listed as "BACK ORDERED ITEMS", but no prices are listed.

Is that normal?

I just got the email for my order, listed as Order Number: 0 - 0. The prices in the email are the same as when I placed the order, a total of $56.65.

For everyone that had already placed an order, I think that it is good that they have corrected the prices. Another plus, this deal never made it to the FW board. Hopefully they didn't get swamped with orders and will honor the orders for the lucky ones that got in on time. Once again, a big thanks to the OP.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if they ended up charging us all the correct prices?

Here's what I ordered before they changed the prices:

Quantity Item Category Price
1 Alias: Season 3
DVD $11.99
1 Star Trek Generations
DVD $8.99
1 Punisher (2004)
DVD $11.99

Subtotal: $32.97
Shipping: Free!
Tax: $1.98
Total: $34.95

lol, I've never even seen Punisher. Is it any good? I heard mixed reviews.

Chance of that happening is slim to none. It would be illegal - not just a violation of their merchant agreement, but a violation of the uniform commercial code (UCC, I think I got that right, not being a lawyer I haven't memorized all the legal acronyms).

Not that a couple of rather big merchants who should have known better haven't tried (and then quickly backed off once the issue was escalated to someone with a clue), but such cases are few and far between. I don't think we've had such a case reported here in at least the last two years.

what does order # 0-0 mean?

I got my confirmation email.

Does that mean their system is not able to assign an order #?

wolverine - as a guess, I bet their system flakes out if an entire order is "backordered" (which is how it is listing this pre-orders) and thus doesn't given it a real order number. Could be any number of things, just an educated guess having had just a little bit of experience with computer software.

Jah-Wren Ryel: I agree. I could be totally wrong, but I think somewhere along the ordering process I read that an order number would not be assigned until the items shipped. I tried duplicating this but could never find that message again. I did all of this before my lunch so it may have been a hunger-hallucination.

Would it have helped my chances if I had included a non-backorder item in my cart?

Here is what it says on the order confirmation page I printed out from the website.

We will send you a confirmation e-mail with all of your order information including your order number and links to any relevant rebates. Your order number will be e-mailed to you when your product ships.

How often have things like this actually worked? I've never tried to get in on a misprice on a website before.

I did check some previous orders that I made from CC, and they did have normal order numbers on the confirmation emails -- even orders that were composed only of preorders. FWIW

Not very often, but it does occasionally slip through. Last summer, Suncoast had a sale for 2 DVDs for $32. There was a select list of DVDs to choose from. However, if you added one DVD from that list, everything else on the site rang up at $16, including box sets. The order was honored and I ended up picking up expensive box sets(X-Files, Sopranos, etc) for $16 a pop. It never hurts to try as long as it is from a reputable website.
