30Th Anniversary Edition/TEXAS CHAINSAW-$6.99 @ Best Buy.COM

Not sure if it's a pricing error but noticed this as I was browsing around the website. This is the Original version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. $6.99 seems like a good price

Is this one really anamorphic? I thought I read thatit ended up being the same transfer as the old pioneer, which, at least according to dvdprofiler, is not anamorphic.

It is not anamorphic. To my knowledge, there has never been an anamorphic transfer for the original TCM.

I think this might be a misprice unless they just dropped the price on this again.

I noticed a couple weeks ago that the Best Buy B&M stores had reduced the price to $9.99, from $14.99. I almost bought it then.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll probably get this now!

Thanks. I've never actually seen this movie, the good price seems as good an excuse as any to check it out (went for in-store pickup, since they don't have free shipping anymore).

I thought a new multiple disc version was supposed to be released this year? Or am I confusing TCM with Dawn of the Dead?

That's what I thought, but you know, when BBY's website says "Enhanced Widescreen for 16x9 TV" it got my hopes up. Still going to hold onto my Pioneer edition, but for anyone who doesn't own TCM, this is a great deal.

I saw it for $6.99 in store last week when I was seeking out the Zombi 2 disc.

Man I loathe Best Buy. After 15 minutes of mass confusion at the pick up counter, I was told the system made a mistake and they don't have it in stock after all.

Wound up reordering it and having them ship it.

The commentary is worth a listen too. I got the disc for a couple dollars more during the DDD 20% off sale and this is a steal.

Mine wasn't this bad since I got my movie, but the girl at the counter (wearing some kind of junior-manager name tag) made me wait 5-10 minutes while she was carrying on a phone conversation with someone about meeting someone after work. Then when she got off, she called someone else over to get me the DVD. What a lameass.

ordered it for instore pickup and got the confirmation e-mail that it was available. when I get there, it isn't behind the pick-up counter, but they make me pay for it anyway. after 5 minutes, someone brings the remake disk and they stare at it for 5 more minutes trying to decide if it's the right one. I go back to find it and spend 10 more minutes looking but can't find it. then they call "the guy who knows everything" (like the guy they call in Apocalypse Now who wakes up and kills the guy screaming on the beach) and he nods knowingly and disappears for another 5 minutes. he returns with the remake. again, people stand around and look at it for several minutes and decide it's the wrong movie, so I ask for a credit. and now they seem confused because I'm returning *nothing* since I never received anything and they don't know how to tell the register that I have nothing to return, but I wan't my money back anyway. and that takes about 10 more minutes...so that's why I'm telling you, so I can make you feel just how annoyed I got after so much nothing-happening...then I went home and ordered it online....

Not only is it not anamorphic, but it's supposedly misframed. Alas, it's the only thing available at this time on DVD.

All the copies at my local B&M store were now marked at 6.99 too.

For a catalog title that's been out less than a year, it sure has seen a lot of price deductions...
From $19.99 to $14.99 to 9.99 to 6.99 Wow!

This disc is so bad, I would say it's not worth it to buy this DVD. Just rent it if you want to see the movie (then you'll see haow bad the disc is).

It is so badly misframed that there is a dark black bar down the right side of the screen (even on sets with lots of overscan). On a 16x9 set, it's pretty much unwatchable.

I've got the Region 2 SE, which while non-anamorphic is at least a better transfer.

Thanks for the warning. Some day someone will put out a quality version, so I can wait.
