Yep, was just coming in to post this -- saw that the deal is now near the top of the first page on FW -- crappity crapperton. Oh well.....

I got the Hitchcock CC box from these guys when they were the only ones to have it in stock (and for $90 no less) after it went OOP. Good service, quick shipping. The box was a little banged up, but I blame that on USPS, not them. Overall I'd recommend them based on my 1 experience.

Does it look like they got ahold of the deal before us?

Dabaomb 07-12-04 09:57 AM

Here's the quote from HDTVDog who posted it over at Fatwallet.com

Their are some other great dvd deals on that site as well....

Heh, that was kind of him. Is it bad that being called a [DVD] nerd makes me feel proud?

Nope -- like the post quoted above by Dabaomb says, they were kind enough to give us "nerds" a head start. How sweet.

007bugs 07-12-04 10:19 AM

It shows as 'on order' now.

gcribbs 07-12-04 10:51 AM

I hope they actually ship some out. Even if mine is not one I hope a few of the Dvdtalkers get a copy.

waiting for the cancel :)

A-aron 07-12-04 11:20 AM

put an order in .. here's to hoping that it actually happens, but no biggie if not. Thanks to the OP!

TomOpus 07-12-04 11:46 AM

Well, I just checked my order online and, initially, doesn't look good.

I had ordered another disc and in the "filled" category THAT disc has a "1" while the Nat Geo has a "0"

Also looks like Nat Geo is in "backorder" status. Ohwell... maybe they'll still honor the price.

Dah-Dee 07-12-04 01:18 PM

Uh-oh, they've changed the Nat. Geo. set quantity from "1" to "0" on the order I placed, with the other item in the order still showing a quantity of "1," and the dollar total also changed to reflect removal of the NG set. Looks like it's being cancelled. They've also removed the product page from their site. Grrrrr.

TomOpus 07-12-04 01:20 PM

Same here.

Is this the part where the thread title gets the [DEAL DEAD] added? :(

Dah-Dee 07-12-04 03:43 PM

Holy Crap, my order is now showing as shipped, including the National Geographic set! *Does Happy Dance*

Same thing for me. My order status says "Completely Filled," whatever that means.

007bugs 07-12-04 06:14 PM

Item not available any longer.
My order shows completely filled, but the Qty line shows 0, the order total shows $0, the shipping line shows not shipped. I ordered on Sunday morning.

theMadness 07-12-04 10:50 PM

Mine shows the same. I placed my order on Saturday night. Oh well.

Same here as well. The other three DVDs I ordered have "1" in the quantity and "1" in the filled but "0" in the quantity for the Nat. Geo Set. Dollar total has changed to reflect removal of the Nat Geo Set. Oh well, it was a nice try. Still thanks to the orginial poster who posted the "bargin" as if it wasn't for the post, I wouldn't have been able to find a deal on the other three DVDs I ordered. Still saved over $30.00!

LB...

Decker 07-13-04 12:42 AM

Well, mine also shows quantity 0 and shipping charge of $0.99 (who knew they had a standard rate for shipping 0 DVDs?). What's different is that my order status says "New Order". I don't know if that means anything, and I don't have my hopes up, but it's different at least. I also ordered late Sat night.

babka 07-13-04 01:37 AM

Mine is showing as shipped!!!!

justbarelymovin 07-13-04 01:44 AM

Mine is showing as not shipped. :(

same here :(

GMLSKIS 07-13-04 04:04 AM

Mine shows :

Order status: Completely Filled
Shipment: Not Shipped
Delivery type: ship what is currently available (combine)

Dah-Dee 07-13-04 08:14 AM

Weird -- the product page is now back up, same silly low price, shows it as "On Order," will let you place an order (allowed me to place it in my cart, anyway).

Edit: Looks like they've increased the shipping fee now, or maybe just showing the actual shipping cost (there's that little asterisk-flagged comment about estimated shipping cost) -- on the first order page it shows a USPS Priority Mail shipping cost of $8.92 (was something like $2.98 before).

Update

Hello all,
I am the o.p. of this thread.
This was my first message and I’m happy and sad I post it.
Happy that it had a very welcome reception and sad as I’m afraid
a lot will be disappointed by not getting the set.

I’m following this forum for 2-3 months only but I appreciate very
much that people communicate and post their ideas and information.
I post that bargain because I wanted to say thank you to you all and because it came from my favorite DVD company. I had never any problem dealing with them.

Now, I got this morning (European morning that is) the following e-mail concerning my order:
-----------------------------
Greetings MICHAEL ******* from DVD Pacific.
We thought you'd like to know that we processed your Invoice ID ******** today. This invoice has now entered shipping and will depart from our warehouse within the next 24 hours. If you selected courier shipping you will receive a further e-mail with tracking details shortly. Thanks for shopping at DVD Pacific, and we hope to see you again soon.
-----------------------------
My account status is now:
ItemID Title Retail Price Ordered Price Items Qty Filled Sent SubTotal 10042
National Geographic: Ultimate National Geographic DVD Collection
$139.98 $12.17 7 1 0 1 $12.17
ESTIMATED SHIPPING (7 discs in total) by International Surface Mail: $8.92 Estimated Total: $21.09
-----------------------------

The Qty filled = 0 is a little confusing but at the end I hope and wish for all to get the set.

Thanks again for the great forum.

Thanks again for the original post!

Regarding your concern about the "filled" quantity of zero, I don't think that's a problem (the "sent" box is the one you want to see with a "1" in it on your order); if my understanding is correct, they use that box to show in-stock items they're holding until an order with multiple items, so of which are out-of-stock, can be filled. For example, if you ordered this National Geographic set in the same order with one other dvd, and the set was on back order but the other dvd was in stock, *and* you selected the "Hold until complete" shipping option on the first checkout page, then after placing the order your order status page would show a zero in the filled box for the set but a "1" in the filled box for the dvd in stock. I think my explanation is too wordy, but I hope it makes sense. My point is, I think they really did ship your set, so congratulations! It's nice to see the deal-finder actually get the deal -- doesn't always happen....
