So it's going up for prebooks tomorrow and Lucasfilm hasn't released specs on what will be on the DVDs (particularly bonus features) yet? How are customers supposed to make a prebook decision without knowing what we will (and won't) be getting?

What will the price be? I would assume the same as the Indy trilogy.

Most customers probably don't care at this point. They've already waited five years.

I hope so......of course....it wouldn't hurt if Eckerds decides to have the lowest price in town once again.

This is one of those few statements that works well both as a serious comment and a sarcastic one.

I'd expect the MSRP to be around $70. Didn't the Indy set not have an MSRP, just an MAP?

Anyway, I'd expect this to be around $50 for pre-orders, $45 at most stores come release day, with an aggressive loss-leader store making nice price matches for us at around $35.

Who the hell is going to preorder this when we don't know what the in-store promotions are going to be yet? This is the perfect title to add some extra bonus gift to sweeten the deal - I mean, this set is probably the most anticipated DVD EVER.

So I'm hoping for a decent bonus DVD from Best Buy on this one, more akin to the Bond Girls are Forever disc than the ten minute thing they packaged with Indy.

That's exactly what they're counting on for the pre-orders... it won't matter what bonuses, extras, etc are offered on/with the Trilogy... people will buy it BECAUSE it's the most anticipated DVD ever! I'd pay $42.00 at Amazon.com for it now (That's only $14 each... less than the standard $14.99 - $17.99 new release price). I hardly ever watch the special features anyway, I just want the movies!

At 40% off, its going to be tough for a B&M to beat amazon.com's price. I'm thinking about using a STL and pre-ordering this week. If the specs are released and I decide I don't want to buy I would be able to cancel right up to the day it gets shipped out, right?

Rossi,

Yes, you can cancel right up to the moment that it says "Items Shipping Soon". Once it is in that stage, you can't cancel. It won't be at that stage for awhile though.

I pre-ordered it a couple of hours ago and sent a STL email to anyone who was on the Star Wars Trilogy STL list at http://www.dvdtalk.com/stl . If I'm allowed to do STL after the fact, let me know and I will send one to whoever wants it!

I paid the $2.98 shipping to get it quicker when it's released! I did the Super Saver shipping with IJ Trilogy and it took about 8-10 days to get it! I would have paid 7.75% tax in the store if I bought it local, so I still saved even if BB or CC has it for $41.99 + tax. Anyway, $44.97 out the door with 3-5 day shipping! STL would make it $4.20 less than that!

It seems to depend on from where they ship the order - if it comes out of Kentucky, then no tax - if it comes from PA or even Wilmington, DE I get charged tax. I have to call them to have it removed.

Free shipping, though.

Have you guys seen the synopsis that Lucas has released for the three films? (Check it out on DVD Empire or Buy.com)
Granted, we've all seen these films, but Lucasfilm's synopsis gives away EVERY MAJOR plot point in the movies! I haven't seen spolilers this bad since FOX stuck the statue of liberty scene on the front of their Planet of the Apes box set!

With STL at Amazon, this would only be $37.79. Anyone think we'll see it for less as release date approaches?

Well, Indiana Jones was $25 after rebate at FYE, so it's possible that they'll do the same thing for Star Wars.
