The web site lists this as Widescreen. I went to another couple of sites (merchants and reviews) to see if it was anamorphic and everything I could find was referenced as full screen - one review even docked it for being P&S.
Can somebody who has recieved this confirm for me whether it is widescreen and if it is anamorphic.
Thanks.

Yes, Gormenghast is full-frame, which is the original broadcast ratio, as it was produced for BBC TV. I’m not sure what the original shooting aspect ratio was, but the IMDb says it’s 1.78:1, if you can believe that. Does anyone have the UK DVD to compare?

According to http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparison...e.php?fid=1638 the R2 UK version is 1.78:1 anamorphic.

CAUTION: THE AMERICAN VERSION MIGHT BE PAN & SCAN.
After checking on various sites, it looks like the american release is 1.33:1 while the r2 is in its OAR of 1.78:1.
The Walmart site says it's widescreen but other sites do not back this up. This is the back of the box:
No notice of the aspect ratio at all! Caveat Emptor!

Sorry Mr. Gore - I saw that people were still ordering it, so I assumed erroneously that no-one had been informed.
But I think you were incorrect when you said "Gormenghast is full-frame, which is the original broadcast ratio, as it was produced for BBC TV". The BBC has broadcast in beautiful widescreen for many years.

DonnachaOne, thanks for helping to keep everyone informed. I was incorrect previously in that I made an assumption before anyone had verified the filming aspect ratio. I do know that the BBC does widescreen broadcasts, but whenever I've traveled to that part of the world, I've only seen television programmes on hotel sets, which where 4:3. In any case, I guess this is a title that I will have to repurchase.

Beware, the last time that dvdlater had a super good deal (just a week or so ago) they cancelled people's orders without any notification and kept the money for themselves (people had to discover the cancellation on their own and contact DVDsoon to get store credit and/or wait at least 21 days to get an actual refund. People in the USA got doubly screwed because most credit cards charge a currency conversion fee (totally bogus, but all too common) of a percent or two on both the charge and the credit.
So, it isn't a risk free gamble like most misprices usually are.
