I always loathed the art on that X-Factor run despite being huge fans of Cyclops and Jean Grey. The redesign of Angel worked, otherwise I hated how the original X-Men looked during their X-Factor days.
I've never been as huge a fan of Simonson as others. Sometimes his stuff looks really good; other times it comes off rushed, sloppy, and unfinished. And, even at the best of times, it often felt harsh, angular, and stiff. Not sure if the problem with X-Factor was with the inks -- I think Wiacek did most of it, but the "Inferno" issues with Milgrom were particularly terrible -- though Milgrom seldom did anybody he inked any favors. |
