I looked through a lot of Aquaman's series and couldn't find any covers of his comics that I ever owned which slightly surprised me even though I was never a fan of the character. So, I found a cover of one of my favorite comics as a kid that included him on it. I loved this cover and this issue. I was always a sucker for any face-offs against similar type characters, especially when you got into the various Earth counterparts going against each other.

I had a few old copies of WWT as a kid. Jonah Hex's face always creeped me out.

He really walked the line between realism and cartoony well -- much like Arthur Adams. Sub-Mariner is another superhero I don't think I had many, if any comics of other than crossovers. He just never interested me as a character for whatever reason.

Love those old Timely comics, especially ones that have covers by Alex Schomburg, he was great. I have this one below, although my copy is missing a small piece of the bottom right corner, otherwise it would be worth some serious bucks.

Yep. Bought that one at my local comic shop. I may still have it, but I think I sold it years ago. DC was exciting during that time.

One of the most entertaining comics of the last 25 years has been Spider-Girl/The Amazing Spider-Girl. This is a fun, lighthearted cover that captures the humorous side of the title (the humor is sprinkled in like it was on the original Amazing Spider-Man for the first 200 or so issues of that title's run).

I own most of Jonah Hex's classic (Bronze Age) appearances in comics, and I love that one of my higher grade copies of Weird Western Tales is this cover, which I came to learn is a Neal Adams cover. The cover looks really great when you are dealing with a high grade copy of this comic. One of these days, I need to get a CGC copy of Hex's first appearance, as that might be one of only just a small number of classic Hex appearances that I do not own. I even own the three DC Digests that are focused on Jonah Hex (they are kind-of hard to find in decent condition). Anyway, your liking these Jonah Hex covers triggered this huge fan of Jonah Hex. Sorry for the thread drift.
What do you think of the modern stuff? I’ve read the beginnings of the ~2006 and ~2012 runs and really enjoyed both. |

Over the years I have acquired the full run of Bronze Jonah Hex (1-92), and as mentioned most of his Weird Western appearances (including his second and third appearance in okay condition, if it were not for a subscription crease, I believe my copy of his 2nd appearance would be considered at least Fine- - VF-). I do own the majority of issues 1-92 in no less than Fine - VF/NM condition, with the key issues being pretty much in VF-NM, pretty proud about that. It took me at least 4-6 years to get to a point where I owned most of Hex's appearances and in "collectible" condition at that. Eeek, someone needs to throw up a cover in this thread asap to get it back on track. Lol. I do love that there are other massive fans of Jonah Hex out there in the wild. ETA: I took my own advice and uploaded a cover, not my favorite Hex cover, but one of my favorite issues. Another ETA: I just checked, and it is indeed his 2nd appearance that has the subscription crease, however, I also own his 3rd appearance and it turns out that was probably my most expensive Jonah Hex comic to acquire since I paid over $200 for it including getting a break on the $250 sticker price because I bought some other books from this one dealer at I believe the San Jose, CA Comic Con that I used to hit quite a few years back with my Dad (and even my Mom went to one of these cons one year). Obviously, I own his 3rd appearance in pretty sweet condition give what I paid at least 5-6 years back. No nasty "pickle" smell, no obvious damage from water, just a 50+ year old comic that looks pretty sweet for its age. |

I own most of the Bronze Age Jonah Hex run, just missing a few issues. I'd love to see DC issue it as an omnibus, or more likely two omnibuses. That rights deal they gave creators after 1976 is pretty much blocking more Bronze Age runs from being collected thanks to the expensive licensing fees.

Was going through a friend's comic book collection last night with a few beers and he had several key issues in his collection that he had zero idea they were worth anything. And most of the keys were actually in pretty good shape. He was stunned when I told him what this one is currently worth:
