Bummer. I got my Green Arrow/Green Lantern hardcover signed by him and Denny O'Neil. I also have a Muhammed Ali Vs. Superman hardcover signed by him.
RIP.

I saw him once at ComicCon (probably 1974?) but didn't meet him. Always considered him one of the best things to happen to comic books. An incredible talent that will truly be missed.
Recently got a copy of his Action Comics 1000 cover that he had signed. Back in '74 I was too shy to go ask for a signature.
Rest in Peace

Bummer. He was a great artist. His booths at comic cons were always over the top. I had thought about getting a print or something else signed by him, but he seemed a bit expensive compared to many of the others from his era.

One of the greatest, if not greatest, comic book artists of all time. Truly landmark contributor whose art touched many lives. I don't think Batman becomes the world's most popular superhero if Neal Adams never touches him. He will be missed. Rest in peace, Neal.

Great artist.
I got to meet him a couple of times at C2E2. One time he commented on how I had more hair than he did, we had a good laugh comparing hair. I asked him if he ever recovered his lost portfolio, sadly he hadn't.
RIP

Here's what's so sad about all this - In the same year we've lost Neal Adams, and we're likely to lose George Perez, too. That's a brutal year for Comic fans.

Terrible news, he was an absolute legend. I grew up reading his DC comics (Batman, Green Lantern/Green Arrow) when I was a kid in the 70's. RIP.

Re: Neal Adams - Dead at 80
I’ve told this story before, but about 10 years ago I found out almost last minute that Neal was going to be at my local shop. I haven’t been to any cons of significance and have only met a few creators. But at that time I considered him one of my favorite three artists, and arranged to get off work early and go.
I planned to just get the one free signing and then maybe buy a print or possibly a sketch depending on how it went. I debated what book to bring, and decided on the Deadman deluxe hardcover.
It was a decent turnout, but many people just came and went quickly, while a couple of us were able to just sorta hang out next to his table and listen to his stories and chat with him a bit. During this time I heard that he inked my favorite cover of all-time, Micronauts #7. I scrambled home and found it, and brought my wife back with me to get it signed.
Decided to get a sketch, and as he was multi-tasking, had what might have been a full hour standing next to him hearing more stories, and asking questions. Another big Micronauts fan was there, and he, Neal, and I had an extended conversation about the rights between Marvel and Hasbro.
In perhaps the most surreal couple minutes of my life, Neal Adams sang us a little ditty he created on the fly about how Hasbro’s Marty Abrams was such a jerk.
He had his faults, but between his wonderful art, hand in creating many DC characters, and work on creator’s rights he is Comic Book Hall of Fame first ballot. And for me, I’ll never forget that odd and wonderful couple hours I had next to him and his family.

Re: Neal Adams - Dead at 80
Incredibly saddened by his passing. Was able to meet him at Heroescon back in 2011 and every year after, I always visited his booth and talked to him as we had friends in common and he love telling stories about the industry among other things. In 2014, he visited a nearby LCS a day before NCComicon and this time around I brought a sketchbook to get a Batman sketch from him. Since the place was packed, and he had been late arriving at the store due to delays in his flight from JFK, he couldn't do the sketch for me that day but told me that he would take the book to the hotel and bring it to me the next day at the con. He did an amazing Batman sketch, one that is always talked about when I get sketches from other artists and gave me a sweet deal because he knew it was for me and we had known each other for a while. I was certainly looking forward to see him at Heroescon this year but knew that he had health issues even before the pandemic and was hospitalized several times in the past 2 years. I knew things were a little off over the past couple of months as his Facebook page was hacked (and it has been hacked again 2 days ago) and was posting shitty Netflix videos and no one was able to stop it . People were trying to communicate with Neal about this but no one responded and the people at his store were mum about the whole situation. I wish we could have had a moment to say goodbye to him in the same manner George Perez is getting.
One more thing. We can thank Neal for being a champion for creator's rights. He was the one that was able to properly get DC to credit Siegel and Shuster for Superman. He fought for the creators and was able to get them benefits that were not given before. To me, that's as important as every single page of art he did. Rest in Peace Neal Adams.

Re: Neal Adams - Dead at 80
I had only talked to Neal once at either the Baltimore comic Con or the Raleigh Super Con a few years back. I had a SDCC limited edition Spider-Man guitar that was labeled on the packaging as having the artwork done by "Neal Adams", so i asked him about it. The artwork was clearly done by Humberto Ramos and not Neal. He was confused why they had him credited for it instead of Ramos and said he never had any contact with the company that produced the guitar.

Thanks, Trevor and Red Hood, for the posting the obits.
Adams' heyday was a bit before my time, but I knew the name and the style. Reading what was written about him really hit me hard.
Definitely a legend. Certainly a loss to the world.
