John Paul Leon Has Passed Away
Fellow artist Chris (ChrisCross) Williams posted on Facebook that John Paul Leon has passed away due to cancer.
Okay. The stinging keeps coming. I haven’t seen him in years but it still stings. So I got the message from Joe Illidge that John Paul Leon passed away. I know he’s been fighting cancer and that he had a remission. Unfortunately we know how insidious cancer really is and it’s taken away so many great people before they’re ready. This sucks. He was an all around great guy, respected by everyone in the business. Man, fuck cancer.

Wow. I think the first work of his that I remember is his amazing stuff for Milestone on Shadow Cabinet (and ChrisCross doing excellent work on Blood Syndicate... I always liked team books), then stuff like the Further Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix and obviously Earth X.

I remember seeing this thread last night and only later did it click for me he worked on Earth X. Great artist, sad he passed away so young. I want to say he was working on an unfinished Batman project, but I don't recall the details.

I was also gonna say I remember him primarily from the amazing Milestone comics circa 1993-1995. Fantastic talent. RIP.
