Morrison's Seven Soldiers- worth it or wait?
I've heard good and bad things about this material.
Mostly good, and I do mostly love Morrison's All-Star Superman. Other than that, I haven't read much else of his work.
I'm debating picking up the SS Omnibus while it's still 50% off.
I already have a huge backlog, but if this is gripping material right off the bat, I'd probably bump it to the head of the pile.
So what do you more knowledgable fans think?

I haven’t read this but in general I’m not a big fan of Grant Morrison. I just don’t really care for his storytelling style. I particularly found his big run with Batman some years back to be one of the worst big arcs I’ve invested my time into reading (the R.I.P. storyline). It just seemed convoluted and hard to follow for the sake of being that way like he thought he was being clever or something.

Thanks, Mike.
I've read comments from a few people who were less than thrilled with his Batman run.
Some of the criticism I've seen for SS was for being convoluted and slightly hard to follow as well. I know it's a story told across multiple titles, which I think the trades and I know the Omnibus present in the proper reading order.
I could probably easily skip it and not miss it, but OTOH it seems like the people who do enjoy it are pretty passionate about it- so I was curious as to what all was there.

As a big Morrison fan, I can't say that Seven Soldiers is one of his best works. It falls in the midfle of the pack.
I'd say his best stuff, inno particular alphabetical order, is All Star Superman, Animal Man, Doom Patrol, Invisibles, and We3.

I must confess that while I probably own every mainstream title Morrison has written, I’ve only read 2 and a half runs. But they were stellar: Animal Man, All-Star Superman, and some of his Doom Patrol.

If you want to make sense of Final Crisis, reading Seven Soldiers probably helps. A little. But otherwise, yeah, unless your backlog is just 90s Image series or something, there's probably something on the pile that would take priority.
On the other hand if you're a big fan of the original Seven Soldiers (Crimson Avenger, Shining Knight, Vigilante, Green Arrow, Speedy, Star Spangled Kid and Stripesy, but not poor Wing), it loosely ties into that (with a new Shining Knight) and pretty much reinvents some of these characters. I still don't fully understand what's up with club owner Darkseid and the whole Mister Miracle part, though.

It's probably essential for big Morrison fans and his style. Seven Soldiers is a lot of fun and reinvigorates several under-used DC characters.
I'd say it's better than his Batman run.
