...“we’ll be maintaining the classic Legacy issue counts as dual numbering on these titles as well...”
It's funny, Marvel announced they would stop doing linewide event crossovers for a time so now they're keeping the hype machine going without much plotwise to really hang the hype on - at least with Onslaught, Avengers v X-men, Secret Empire, etc etc there was a plot point to accompany the rebooting. Now they're just randomly renumbering stuff. I am curious to see what this upcoming Infinity (aka Infinity Gauntlet #67, also #1) event will hold.

If Marvel needs to reboot every time a flagship movie comes out, and by now hints are the comics are secondary to the movies, there might be a smarter way to do it than the constant numbering and re-numbering. When Marvel shifted all their X-men titles to new series and 'rebranded' temporarily for Age of Apocalypse it was a lot of fun with an epic story; maybe they could dive into the 'multiverse' and visit 'Marvel Contunity XYZ' when they need to dust off 'start here.' The Ultimate Universe originally annoyed me because it seemed to monkey a lot with the classic characters but I'd recently started getting into it and it's kind of fun to see some of the variants and simplified retelling of legacy stories, there's definitely room for that as a separate line like with Ultimate. It might even be kind of cool to have Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity in a few ongoing titles.
I will say that a complete or even partial reboot isn't going to work. That's what the new 52 was, and while it gained some momentum it quickly lost it and they caved in, losing long time readers (like myself) in the process. DC's rise to prominence was mainly with Rebirth, reintroducing a lot of the old elements of continuity, getting rid of the big crossovers and focusing on individual titles. If this new "relaunch" gives us some decent titles, that will do a lot for Marvel, but they have to really stick it with the creative teams and then stick to the direction for a while to get people back onboard.
The real problem is that for the vast majority of comics, the default is a decline in readership as titles go on; this is really the reason why we have so many reboots and resets, to get the numbers to rise again before the disinterest sets in.

It's weird to see advertisements for comic books in the form of video. Seeing the illustrations with some subtle movement here and there, makes the whole thing look kind of lame.
Static image advertisments, either on the web or in print, seem more fitting, and highlight the strength of the medium. Video ads, for me, seem to accentuate the weaknesses of the medium.
And most of these ads look really lame.
All New Creative Teams!
All New...
Then you have two middle aged guys telling you about how excited they are about this new direction of Marvel featuring new stuff like...Spider-man! Captain America! Ant-Man and Wasp!
I think DC had one that did feature new characters, but they looked like 90s Image rejects. The not-quite motion comic ads make the whole thing look bad.

Jeez, it's hard enough to get all the books in a story arc (knowing which to include) the way it is. I can only think this is going to drive people away for that reason alone.

It looks like Thor is having a stroke and... is Captain America's outfit feathered now?
From the 'Fresh Start' free comic book day cover...
I feel like Marvel thinks casual self parody is cool now.

I'd concur that art isn't great but I think it's a signal that Marvel is returning to its core characters as the main stars - not stuff like the female Captain Marvel.
We've now had over a decade of non-stop hit Marvel movies - it's clear a popular superhero movie today doesn't do anything for comic book sales of an established character except name recognition.
All I would ask for is a great monthly Spider-Man and X-Men book. I think the X-Men franchise in comics is too far gone to ever regain its once premier status unless they bring in a real heavy hitter.

She’s in the image on the first post and has a film coming out. I doubt her prominence will diminish at all.

That's kind of a boring image to use. Couldn't they at least update Cap's costume a little?
I thought that Marvel Comics was trying to be more modern by highlighting new interpretations of their characters: Riri Williams as Iron Man, a Muslim Ms. Marvel, another female Captain Marvel, Falcon as the new Captain America, Wolverine's daughter took over the mantle...
Was that just to temporarily shake things up like they did back in the day when Rhodey took over as Iron Man, Beta Ray Bill became Thor, Spider-man changed his costume? Or was it, as I thought, an attempt to get more of an audience, who isn't mostly white, male, and middle aged?

So I just saw the Marvel previews for the month Avengers #1 comes out. Also coming out that month Amazing Spider-Man #800, Deadpool #300, Iron Man #600 (how is Spider-Man on 800 and Iron Man on 600 I have no idea), Captain America #701.
I'm not sure we're getting the "freshness" that they're trying to sell.

Yeah, I felt old typing that.
I'm at the age when I can't keep up with this stuff.
So they had the new Marvel I described. Then I remember there was a poster promoting a back-to-basics thing where the original characters were back, with Spider-man, Daredevil and others at the forefront.
The latest one is this, with original Cap, Iron Man, and Thor with the heroin symbolism. So what was the 3rd reboot? Are the last three reboots just highlighting that these characters are still the same one's you loved from 60 years ago?

So we have Fresh Start (2018), All New, All Different (2015 post Secret Wars), Legacy (2017), Marvel Now (2012 Post X-Men vs Avengers).
I think that's it although I may be missing one.

Put Hickman back on it and I'm in.
Tho Zdarsky is killing it on Marvel Two-in-One. And it's already sort of an FF book.

I wouldn't be surprised if Zdarsky has already been given the Fantastic Four book. He announced earlier this month that he won't be doing conventions at all this year due to his writing commitments. Right now, he has Sex Criminals art and is writing Marvel Two in One and Spectacular Spider-Man.

So hulk is a horror character now.
Banner can die. The Hulk can’t. If you shoot Banner in the head – he’ll fall over dead. He’ll lie there all day, dead as dirt, growing cold, getting stiff… right up until the sun goes down. And then… well, night is the Hulk’s time.

I'm willing to give Al Ewing the benefit of the doubt, it's hard to tell if the promo is just stylizing horror tropes for fun - it could be amusing over a short time to take Hulk back to his monster pariah origins but if they do intend to retcon Hulk into being some sort of zombie/vampire creature then hard no on that.
