Why so sad?
Everyone dies, not everyone gets to 95, remaining mostly physically and mentally healthy the whole time, not to mention having an enormous cultural impact. A life to be celebrated, not so much mourned, because that's the ideal of how we all would want to go out.

I'm going to miss having him around - the cameos, the personal appearances, TV interviews, etc. Every time I'd see Stan it would make me happy.
And now he's gone. That sucks.
Yeah, everyone dies, but I would have liked to have him around a few years longer.

I was thinking the same thing. I’m glad he got to see some quality films come out of his creations rather than having Lou Ferrigno and Matt Salinger being the face of Marvel.

Excelsior, true believers!
He will be missed, rest in peace. Stan the Man was an ambassador for comics to the general public and was never embarrassed speaking about them. He had a hand in so many influential characters it's impossible to dismiss his contributions to the medium.
One of his last cameos was a voice spot on DC's Teen Titans Go! To The Movies. I find that deeply ironic.

It's be awesome if he made some sort of deal before he died to allow them to use his cgi likeness in every future Marvel movie for those cameos.

RIP Stan Lee
A legend. I guess what makes this all more the sad is his last years in court battles and drama. Such a shame. I hope he's at a peaceful place right now swinging around like Spider-man.
Rest easy friend.

The halls shalt tremble with joy as Stan doth regal warriors past with tales of heroes born, villainous knaves, and battles most dire.

Stanley Martin Lieber, better known as Stan Lee, was truly one of the last living links to the Golden Age of American comic books. Rest in peace and Excelsior!.

I'm amazed that Stan even in his 90's was still attending and signing at comic shows.
I don't know if that was him really wanting to go (probably unlikely) or more on his manager forcing him to be there for the $$$$

I am bummed. I knew this day would come, but I am bummed that it's here. Stan was an incredible influence on comics. And I also learned a bunch of words from his writing.
Thanks for the endless hours of fantasy and entertainment, Stan. You made my childhood a heck of a lot better.

My wife and I initially met through our mutual love of Marvel Comics, so I can honestly say that Stan Lee changed my life for the better.
RIP Stan the Man, and thanks for everything.

It's sad he's gone, but man, what an incredible life he lived. He lived the average life five times over. RIP Mr. Lee.

What better way for DVDTalk to celebrate his life than to relegate his thread to a BookTalk subforum! Just slightly busier than the Political Film forum.

RIP Stan Lee
The guy was great as the spokesperson for Marvel Comics.
He definitely helped give Marvel a personality, which in my opinion, gave it an edge over DC Comics.
The early Amazing Spider-man comics are still great reads.

But do people really look at the separate forums anymore? I thought most people just hit “new posts” and see all thirty threads or so of the new activity since their last visit.

not a comic book guy so I don't come to this section. Really don't know why this didn't stay in the movie section. I rarely use the new post feature.. RIP Stan

Never read a single comic book in my life - never had to either to enjoy this mans work.
His death definitely got to me. RIP
