Biggest Batman News in Decades

https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/...sal/102539296/

Massive comic book spoiler that is already hitting mainstream news, so avoiding it will be very difficult.

Spoiler:
Bruce Wayne finally proposes to Catwoman, aka Selina Kyle. This is not on Earth 2 or an imaginary tale. It looks like the Bat and the Cat are finally getting hitched.

All signs point to this being seen through completion by DC over the next year. I think it actually happens.

This is one development I can get behind for the next few years. We've already seen Superman marry Lois and have a son.

Like all modern comic book "events" I expect the arc to drag out over the next year.

Art below.

Yes, about time.

I have no issues with this, sounds good to me! Usually this stuff seems gimmicky, but in this case i'd like to see it happen.

Isn't everything Earth 2 at this point? Maybe the Batman with the axes will become mainstream Batman someday.

Ok more serious question, though, isn't
Spoiler:
she an actual criminal, like she should be locked up in prison for (at the very least) theft?
Or did they tone that down in the current universe?

Also I dunno about the biggest in decades. The fact that Son of the Demon was actually canon and produced a new Robin who happens to be his son was pretty big news, and hasn't been reversed (yet).

This might mean something if DC didn't reboot and retcon every six months.

Who's the artist on that?

You're thinking of Marvel. No, seriously.

Dc was actually surprisingly stubborn with the new 52. They stuck with it a lot longer than I thought they would, losing me as a regular reader along the way, but they stuck to their guns. Then instead of a complete revamping ala Marvel, they basically went retro. And I guess it's working, as far as sales go.

I'd say the Bill Finger credit tops this.

Great news. Tom King has been amazing on Batman since rebirth started. Im calling it early that he will be the best Batman writer of this modern era.

That was a good time to stop. From there to the end IMO Snyder was awful.

oh don't tell me that, i thought he was amazing until then. I just stopped reading cause I wanted to focus on Marvel

Re: Biggest Batman News in Decades

I wasnt a fan of Death, and Zero Year was just long, drawn out and meaningless. And then you get to Bunny suit batman.

All of his Court of Owls stuff was amazing, but after Death it took a dive for me.

King has been 23/23 issues so far of amazing.

Re: Biggest Batman News in Decades

Yeah from what I read I wasn't a big fan of Scott Snyder's run on Batman. I read the Owls trades and mostly stopped. Most of the New 52 just wasn't very good in general.

Rebirth seems better so far. I don't mind this news but I wonder how long it will last. Batman seems relatively safe even when DC reboots but even so I don't imagine this will be permanent. Might lead to a couple years or so of them being married before whatever storyline reason causes them to break up. I do think Bruce and Selina are a better couple than Bruce and Talia.

And the countdown to Selina's death starrrrtttttsssss - now!

Mike86 06-07-17 01:34 PM

Re: Biggest Batman News in Decades

Yeah she'll "die" or something temporarily to get her out of the storylines for a year or so and then when she inevitably comes back she'll be full fledged bad again or something will cause her and Bruce to not get back together. I just don't see this lasting too long.

Re: Biggest Batman News in Decades

Batman 800 and Detective Comics #1000 are coming up in the next two years.

They will definitely get married in the main continuity, I'm sure with a lot of wacky diversions along the way. There are a lot of signals coming from DC this is not a gimmick where Catwoman flakes out on the wedding.

Nothing is permanent in comics, just ask Spider-Man. But I see them playing with this marriage for several years at the very least. Her death is an obvious out but I don't expect that to happen for a while.

Frankly, it's about time. We'll get a few years of interesting stories that haven't been done with a character almost 80 years old.

Re: Biggest Batman News in Decades

If DC didn't have anything else going on, I would buy the idea of Catwoman and Batman working but this is something that's going to add more tragedy to Bruce Wayne's life instead of making him happier. Or it could turn out that we've been reading stories from Earth 2 ever since the Rebirth and this version of Batman and Catwoman is the one that have Helena Wayne as a daughter.

I've seen a porno where Bruce Wayne bangs Catwoman at Wayne Manor. Hot scene. It was about time they finalized it in the comics.

You don't even need a porno for that, it was in new52 Catwoman number one.

Hopefully they will birthed a daughter and call her Helena.
Then about 20 years later, Selina is killed by Thomas Blake, Batman retires and Helena becomes
The Huntress.

Story makes a lot of sense if you read the Button:

Spoiler:
Bruce meets Thomas Wayne from flash point and Thomas tells him to stop being Batman and try To enjoy life. This issue shows him doubting himself and wondering what would make him happy.
