The Dark Knight III: The Master Race - Azzarello/Miller

Reminds me I still need to read Dark Knight Strikes Again. And before anyone says it wasn't good, I never cared much for Dark Knight Returns either
DC Entertainment announced today that bestselling, iconic Batman writer and artist Frank Miller will write the epic conclusion of the celebrated THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS saga.
The “THE DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE” is the sequel to Miller’s 1986 classic THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS – heralded by TIME Magazine as one of the 10 greatest graphic novels of all time – and its 2001-2002 follow-up series BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN.
Miller will be joined by acclaimed writer Brian Azzarello (100 BULLETS, JOKER, and WONDER WOMAN) on the eight-issue comic book periodical, to be published twice a month under the DC Comics imprint. Marking the 30th anniversary of THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS original series, this periodical is slated for publication beginning in late Fall 2015.
“Batman remains my favorite comic book hero and a sequel to Dark Knight is going to be daunting," said Miller, "but we’ll do our best.”
“We are thrilled to have Frank back home at DC writing Batman,” according to Dan DiDio and Jim Lee, Co-Publishers for DC Entertainment. “The story he and Brian have crafted is an astounding and triumphant conclusion to this seminal body of work which influenced and shaped generations of readers and creators alike.”
According to Azzarello, “It's been an amazing experience collaborating with Frank these past six months. I think we have an epic story that these characters truly deserve.”
Artists for the project have yet to be announced.

Is anyone inside the comics industry actually looking forward to this series? I probably won't pick it up.

Is Brian writing this and Miller drawing it, or is Miller doing both duties and writing with Brian? In the article it says Miller is writing with Brian but if Brian is the driving force, then this might be good.

The subtitle alone indicates Miller has some batshit crazy possibly borderline racist idea for this book. I think the main concern is whether or not DC can start publishing it before Miller passes away. He does not look good from whatever cancer or other illness is getting the best of him.
Either Azzarello is there to basically write Miller's ideas out, Azarello is there to reign Miller in, or maybe just Azzarello is there as a backup but we're going to watch Miller continue to go off the rails with his writing.
Frank isn't well enough to write this on his own, so he's certainly not well enough to draw this. The original rumor was it was going to be a rotating collections of top shelf artists each issue. I hope they just pick one guy so it has a consistent visual style the whole way through. It would be nice if they could get Klaus or Mazzucchelli to do the artwork to come full circle with Miller.

Wow I didn't know that about Miller.
I haven't been buying new comics for a few years, but honestly I'm more likely to buy this than see Batman v Superman. And no I wasn't impressed with Strikes Again

If Frank Miller is sick I hope he pulls through whatever it is he has.
I like The Dark Knight Returns. DKSA was awful though. It had some very good ideas but overall the execution was horrible. DKR ended perfectly and the first few pages of DKSA was like an insult to it.
