Why we're picking up on arguments from 2 years ago.

Yeah, I stopped posting around the end of 2013.

My username is actually my first initial, my middle initial, my last name, and my birth year. It was my login name at my university way back in the 90s, and I have been using it as my online username ever since. It's not too original, but I don't care. I never actually noticed how similar it is to the Kroger grocery store until people pointed it out online.

I'm not stalking you, but except for one post in June 2013, looks like you left us in March 2013. So pretty much a two year sabbatical.

And yes, I also always think of the grocery store (with that Smashing Pumpkins song playing) when I see your username.

I think everyone alive at the time would remember the moment when kgrogers1979 stopped actively posting to DVDtalk. It has been etched into our cultural memory like 9/11 and the Kennedy assassination.

We don't have Kroger out here (though we have some stores in the corporate umbrella that carry Kroger goods), so I've always read your name as "Kenny Rogers."

I've always been put off by how much comic boxes cost.

Dude, they're fucking cardboard boxes. They're cheap paper things that you use to store other things. I can buy cardboard file boxes with lids for a little over a dollar each, but comic boxes cost fives times that. And $15 for drawer boxes is fucking nuts.

I won't argue your point because having digital comics to read has been very nice. But there's something that I just love about reading a paper and ink comic book that will prevent me from ever going 100 percent digital.

To be fair, the Drawer Boxes are a lot of cardboard for $15. It's designed to withstand the weight of several boxes on top of it. Most regular comic lids start to crush after 3 boxes. I remember when the guy who invented the Drawer Box was hawking them at SDCC. He was inviting people to stand on top of a box with nothing inside it to see how much weight it could handle.

$15 may seem a bit nuts but honestly, the people who would buy one generally spend $4 for a 32 page pamphlet. Sometimes several $4 pamphlets on a weekly basis. An extra $15 is nothing compared to that.

Most of my long boxes are seriously heaavy with over 300 books in them.

i can't fathom how this would't crush the lower two rows or at least the bottom row.

Thanks for the pic! I gotta see how I want to set mine up, since as I said space is at a premium and we're probably still years away from moving. But they do look a lot nicer and easier to get at for sure!

They say they're built to be stacked 5 high iirc. I know the old saying on regular boxes was no more than 4 high, but these drawer boxes are much sturdier.

My long range plan is 4 high of drawer boxes, with a regular box or other miscellany on top.

Yeah, I was planning on stacking 4 high as well once I re-organize. Right now I'm 3 high because of top space.

I'm so fucking glad I don't buy single issues (often at least). Having to buy bags, boards, and boxes plus storing all that stuff would be a tremendous pain. I'll happily take my trades which I find much more convenient to read since they're collected and bound together nicely and you know what order to read in rather than some titles that become a gigantic clusterfuck with all the crossovers and whatnot.

I'm close to ditching all my bags and boards.

Comics are meant to be read. I'm never going to sell them. Hopefully a reader inherits them when I'm gone.
