"Luthor's reign as President was a travesty. He traded arms with Apokolips. Falsely accused Superman of trying to destroy Earth. Became addicted to the super-steroid Venom. Disgraceful. I will uphold the honor of the presidency." - Trump on Luthor.

Is it just me, or does this cover look like

Spoiler:
a giant extended middle finger?

I'm sure that's on purpose. Don't know anything about the book, but I bet it makes sense somehow.

Yeah, I don't know the series either, and I didn't recognize any subliminal messages in the other covers so I wasn't sure.

Re: Random comic-related pic thread

That isn't subliminal or even all that subtle. That's the first thing most would think of when looking at that cover.

Some recent Elric conversation reminded me of a story I read decades ago. I think it was this Marvel Graphic Novel (I picked up a number of those at the time), now available from Titan.

I just learned that Russ Heath of DC war comics fame did some of these old ads. I loved the ads and wanted the toys, but I'm sure they were garbage.

^^ Love that Swamp cover too.

^ I ordered those! So disappointing to this 12 year old; just thin plastic stand-ups, all solid colors iirc.

Can't be as disappointing as those x-ray glasses or that giant space ship looking fort thing. Or Sea Monkeys. Talk about false advertising...

Here's an article about the mail order stuff in old comic books, along with photos of the actual items: https://www.collectorsweekly.com/art...nd-x-ray-spex/

They still make Grit; more of a monthly magazine sold in farm supply stores iirc.
