Most DC monthlies in February will have variant covers featuring Harley Quinn.

They have variant covers seemingly every month now. I know they did Lego covers and Darwyn Cooke covers and Flash covers all in a row.

Regardless of whether HQ is actually in the story?

I don't know the details, sorry. It looks like DC is heavily pushing Harley, now that the Suicide Squad is about to become a big movie. I am hopefully optimistic it will turn out decent, though I fear Hollywood will turn the concept into a standard action template.

Right, this is just a variant cover thing, which I guess is good because if editorial forced every single creative team to shoehorn Harley into their comics... ugh.

At least it looks like these variants still (presumably) include the character from the title itself. I hate variant covers that have nothing to do with the title.



Avengers #24

What the heck is the story behind that cover?

Was hoping someone who knew that answer would post it.

I had just read a half-dozen Avengers (Now!) TPs at the beginning of the month, and usually the TPs will have the various covers in the back of the books. One TP was especially odd because a bunch of the covers were of X-Men characters-- but listed as variant covers of issues of the Avengers title.

What I read came from the library, and I had already returned them, so I don't have details on what book it was-- or if it was a number of them.

But it does seem as if Marvel just throws random character variant covers on any old title because it's Deadpool Month or Iron Man Month or whatever. That always strikes me as (exactly what it is: ) a blatant cash-grab.

At least DC seems to use their variants to have other cover artists provide a cover of the title character(s).

Just one more reason for me to stay out of the new comics grind...

Yeah marvel's been doing that for a while but that's exactly what DC is starting up with this Harley month and the earlier flash month. Some of the flash tribute covers are pretty clever, but if there were any casual comic fans anymore they'd be disappointed.

Here's the story behind the cover. I saw the vision/Scarlett witch cover aping Byrne's Classic cyclops and marvel girl cover but i didn't realize there were so many or that there were homages to classic avengers covers too.

Anyway else like Harley's costume from the Animated Series better than the trashy videogame design? They shouldn't have messed with Timm's classic design.

I like it more but do think that her Squad uniform is appropriate for the team cuz they are some crazy ass fucks. I don't dig the oversexualization but this whole new design of the new 52 fits while I don't agree w/ it.
