Why Marvel Vs. DC?

DVD Talk Limited Edition
Re: Why Marvel Vs. DC?
My first comic. A Treasury Edition, oversized comic which I got in 1976 when I was 5. Featured 2 Superman/Flash race stories, puzzles, Fortress of Solitude schematics, and more. Turned me into a Superman (and DCU) fan for life:
I still have it.
Christmas 1976 my cousin gave me this hardbound treasure:
This thick book featured Superman stories from every decade. I poured through it like it was Holy Writ. Mostly black and white, but with some color pages. Think of every possible Superman iteration of that time, from the Siegel/Shuster social crusader of the 30s to the grand goofy sci-fi of Mort Weisenger/Curt Swan and the Denny O'Neil 70s era. AMAZING STUFF.
My brother had the Batman version which was just as addictive as well.
I still have it.

-Have many great memories reading those.
Still have the Superman vs Spider-Man and LoSH.
Love DC comics, never really collected Marvel.
Love both DC/Marvel movies now, feel like a kid again watching my fav characters on the big screen.

Sadly, I got rid of all of my Treasury Editions back when I was 15 or so and went thru a rare purge mode. I've re-bought several on ebay, and still pick them up occasionally when I see them in the $10 or less range.

(I wasn't really following this thread, but saw Hokeyboy's comment in passing and made a mental note to come back to it. Kudos to me for finding it!)

I borrowed both this and especially the Batman version from the library more times than I could ever count. A few years back I ran across the latter in a used book store and of course had to own it. Still awesome.

I have distinct memories of a Wonder Woman hardcover that my sister received, but since I was 5 and this was 38 years ago, I could be entirely full of beans.
Still have both the Superman and Batman books (bought off eBay 15 years ago) and they remain great reads. I always loved the decade "preview pages" for the 50s, 60s, and 70s. The Batman ones were ESPECIALLY creepy; each issue seemed to be showcasing Robin's imminent death.

Damn you, nostalgia! I just ordered the Superman one for 12 bucks shipped.

There was a WW hardcover. It had WW face on it; yellow and blue with stars. It was thinner than the Batman and Superman books. I never owned it but remember flipping through it.
EDIT: Here it is.

No, I thought I remembered a Wonder Woman version as well, though a quick search didn't turn up anything. I found a Shazam! version once but wasn't enough of a fan to pay the high price, and I already have the Showcase and some others.

I had this book when I was a kid. Of course, my Mom got rid of it when I moved out. Thanks, Mom!
