What's the last comic (single issue) you bought?

We have all kinds of threads like this over the rest of the forum; so I figured that we should have them in Comic Book Talk too. They might be fun, and spur some additional conversations.

Ghost Rider #1 - Marvel - September 1973

Saw a fair, but back coverless, copy at my LCBS for $5 and couldn't resist. Haven't read much of this character over the years, but always imagined that he'd be a favorite if I let myself start reading the title.

X-Force Vol 1 #15.

I actually bought the first 15 issues at the same time. I really liked the series when I was a kid and nostalgia took over.

I don't think I've ever bought just one comic. I usually buy them stacks at a time, so no idea really.

Amazing Spider-man #71 #80 and annual #10.

I have all en route to me this week. 3 of the 33 issues I need for the entire ASM series.

Though I guess I did buy some old Thor floppies at the last FCBD for my daughter.

That's awesome Jacob!

I'm not sure what constitutes my largest complete run. I have every Micronauts comic, but that's only perhaps 100 issues total. I'm close to owning the first 300 or so issues of JLA, but need at least 40 more iirc.

Bought an early Eclipse comic for a buck over the weekend. The Mike Mist Minute Mist-eries by Max Collins and Terry Beatty. It was Golden Age-sized and not bad.

I'm the same way, bought a stack from the 50 cent boxes at a shop I found while on vacation in Williamsburg today. Buying just one issue at a time is extremely rare for me. I wouldn't be surprised if I've bought comics 6000 times in my life, and a single one only less than a dozen times.

I'm curious. I think I remember those as a backup feature in some other Eclipse series from the 80s.

It's possible. Each mystery is a page long with the solution upside-down at the bottom of the page. The one I got was a collection of 32 (or so) mysteries.

^ I want that!

And it was in the Eclipse comic Ms. Tree that I was introduced to Mist. Here's a nice history. http://www.thrillingdetective.com/mist.html

I'd been meaning to pick this one up for a while. Finally got a good price on an eBay auction:

That issue of Batman is great with all of the different artists.

Why do we have dueling versions of this thread?

A copy of Evan Dorkin's Dork Comics. Probably eight years ago.

(Single issues from Free Comic Book Day were technically not “bought”...)

Man, I loved Dorkin's stuff. What's he been up to?

The penultimate issue. The Big Two just don't want my business, it seems.

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you bought?

More like, comic readers don't like to try out new things, especially in singles. That's the caveat of the wait-for-the-trade mindset that honestly, the companies have been pushing. What have sales been like on the title, btw? I really enjoyed the first arc of the title, but I haven't gotten any of the Sif stuff.

Re: What's the last comic (single issue) you bought?

Well, it's ending after the next issue (#655), so clearly sales haven't been great. More room for The Mighty X-Men or whatever, I suppose. I do recommend you check out the Sif stuff in trade--I like it a good deal more than the Loki arcs.

He's been writing Beasts of Burden from Dark Horse with art by Jill Thompson.

I'm sure it's good, cover looks great, but I had to LOL when I read that name (had to stop buying comics regularly a couple years ago, so I wasn't familar with him.)
