The Star Wars The Comic Book

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/04/...-the-star-wars

Dark Horse's newest comic is called "The Star Wars." This eight-issue mini-series is adapted from George Lucas' original screenplay draft of what would eventually become the original Star Wars film we all know and love. The Star Wars features Annikin Starkiller and his family as the main characters, along with a number of other familiar elements that would be reworked in later drafts. For example, Luke Skywalker is a respected Jedi general, Han Solo is a reptilian alien, and the Sith Knights and their Death Star are the great menace to the galaxy.
Interesting. I'm surprised this hasn't happened before.

This is just a little too much of a stretch for me (although I don't collect the current Star Wars comics right now, so maybe I'm not the target audience).

While it is an interesting concept, there is a reason it wasn't used for the movie. So I'm guessing it isn't that good. From what I've heard of the first draft, there are a lot of ideas that were used later so expect a bunch of stuff from later films having some form in this.

Re: The Star Wars The Comic Book

Interesting. I remember when I was a kid and I got the Ralph McQuarrie's set of concept art. I was sort of puzzled as to why it looked totally different from the film. Being 11 at the time I didn't have a clue as to how movies were made. I've heard about the original screenplay as being totally different from what we got, though. Now I can compare the original concept art with this new comic. They would probably fit in more with this.

Re: The Star Wars The Comic Book

If they want to write a comic book based on George Lucas' original idea it'd be called Flash Gordon.
